Brian Riley reposted thisBrian Riley reposted thisHow do you keep control of a growing SaaS landscape across a large enterprise group—while improving governance, transparency, and efficiency at the same time? In the latest customer story, CEWE Group shares how USU SaaS Management can help create central visibility into SaaS applications, improve control over usage and contract data, and build a reliable foundation for better decisions on licensing and spending. A strong example of aligning IT, procurement, and business teams with clear processes and trustworthy data—especially when tool sprawl and distributed ownership become real challenges. 👉 Read the case study: https://lnkd.in/d6uuYiif #SaaSManagement #SoftwareAssetManagement #ITAssetManagement #SAM #CEWE

Employees can enable GenAI tools in minutes (freemium, personal cards, browser usage). The result isn’t only a security issue. It creates blind spots across: - Visibility: not in the CMDB, no lifecycle ownership - Cost control: usage-based pricing (tokens/credits) quietly spikes - Compliance & privacy: unchecked terms, data handling, retention - Renewals: no clear owner, deadlines slip Gartner flags Shadow AI as a top emerging risk — and many organizations aren’t ready yet. The good news: you don’t need a new framework. IT Asset Management (ITAM) provides the governance foundation — applied to a new asset class. What often starts as a procurement issue quickly turns into a broader operating model challenge! 𝐌𝐲 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: #FinOps is not about policing spend, it is about making cost to value transparent at the point where decisions are made. That shift makes it far more actionable! Brian Riley reposted thisBrian Riley reposted thisOne thing I keep seeing: teams are asked to “own cloud costs” without the data, process, or mandate to do it properly. Engineering optimizes for delivery, Finance optimizes for accountability and ITAM/SAM is caught in the middle. This does a good job explaining that gap (and why a lot of #FinOps initiatives quietly fail before they start). I also like to remind people of the FinOps maturity model framing: crawl → walk → run—because it makes the next step concrete rather than aspirational. If you’re working on cost allocation across AWS/Azure/GCP or trying to connect cloud with enterprise agreements and on‑prem entitlements, this is worth checking out: https://lnkd.in/d4vxNc5q #CloudFinancialManagement #ITAM #CloudCostOptimization

Brian Riley liked thisBrian Riley liked thisWhere does your SaaS budget really go? 💸🔍 Often to places no one has full visibility into. Up to 40% of SaaS spend happens outside centralized IT governance. And Shadow IT fuels hidden costs. At the same time, <50% of companies have a complete view of their SaaS environment. Lack of transparency increases operational and financial risk. 🧩📉 What’s striking: Even though 68% of companies use analytics dashboards, up to 30% of SaaS spend is still wasted. 📊 And the market keeps growing: in 2026, companies will spend €350B+ on SaaS—about 15% more than in 2025. 👉 Where do you see the biggest SaaS budget leaks today—renewals, too many licenses, or tools nobody uses? Here's how to build one: 🟣 Pull 5 to 10 of your best recent RFPs, product docs, and compliance materials. Less is more. Outdated answers train bad habits 🟡 Normalise everything into a clean Q&A format. Simple question, clear answer. No elaborate tables, no fluff 🔵 Connect it to an automation tool that pulls only from your internal sources. Fast, accurate, no hallucinations Teams using this approach are cutting response times by up to a whopping 90%. And also they sleep better at night (we think).

Brian Riley reacted on thisBrian Riley reacted on thisThere’s a good chance you’re not familiar with Doris Fisher, who died Saturday at the age of 94 – but you’ve undoubtedly heard of the Gap, the company she founded in 1969. Doris, along with her husband, Donald, took their lifesavings of $63,000 and opened up a single store in San Francisco that sold Levi’s, record albums and cassette tapes. They considered naming the store “Pants and Discs,” but settled on the "Gap" to address the generation gap emerging in fashion styles between parents and children. At the outset of the store launch, she wrote: “We are not merely interested in growing…we are interested in growing profitably. We must have complete knowledge of what we want to stand for. That will make our store sing with excitement.” Don managed the finances of the store and its expansion and Doris concentrated on the clothes, which she modeled every single day. "People always wanted to buy what you were wearing because they would envision themselves wearing the same thing," she recalled. In addition to concentrating on what they sold, Doris was manic about making it easy for customers to find what they were looking for. She insisted on having lots of items in common sizes and stacking them neatly so they could be located quickly and painlessly. Two of her fashion tips: 1. If you like something buy it in multiples. 2. You can never go wrong in black. Most importantly, Doris believed that the foundational element of any good business was to respect its employees. According to son, Robert Fisher, former chairman of the board, “From the start, it was important to her that we treat everybody fairly.” For Doris Fisher, that was just one more “Gap” to fill – and she did it well. #WhataLife! 4:8 Media
