The C-suite and Boards are shouting, “More AI!!” But here’s the rub: AI is being deployed in places it doesn’t belong—introducing more risk, more cost, and more energy consumption, often without a clear ROI. We are at the point in the AI hype cycle where vendors - and even some enterprises - are shoving AI into everything they do, even when the ROI is unclear, and even when the users don't actually want it. We are in the Super-AI-ize Me moment. Enterprises can't resist the allure of adding on AI to any project. And who can blame them, the C-suite and Boards are clamoring for "More AI!!" The result - we're plopping AI into places where it isn't needed - and where it in fact might create more risk, more cost, more energy consumption. And we're making silly decisions that give AI unproven primacy over other solutions. Just yesterday, news reported that Salesforce is getting pushback from users after it removed any traditional search option and replaced it all with AgentForce (link in comments). I've used and helped clients deploy RAG-based answer agents, and they can be a great and powerful tool. But that doesn't mean you can or should turn all other search mechanisms off - especially if users still like them. (See my previous post on why we can love both AirBnB's and traditional hotels.) Given all of this, it's no surprise the broader market is questioning when and where the ROI of all this AI investment is going to appear. I propose a simple rubrik: the BETTER test. Does AI make the user / customer / employee experience BETTER. Not bigger (Super Size Me!!!). Not more stuff. But BETTER. Better could mean easier, more efficient, faster, less manual work, more creative, whatever. But it has to be BETTER. The next question is then "Does AI alone make this better? Or is it better with AI plus other things?" Is search better when it's only Generative AI-powered answers? Or when you get AI Answers overlayed with traditional search results where you can dig in and learn more? Is an agent better when it uses GenAI to figure out everything on the fly? Or when that GenAI is able to find and then execute processes and workflows that ensure consistency and repeatability? Let's stop throwing AI in with our software combo meal just because we can. Let's ask whether it is leading to better and healthier software.

In my conversation with Alan Trefler, Founder & CEO of Pegasystems, recorded ahead of #PegaWorld 2026, one idea really stayed with me. This matters because I see many leaders asking the wrong question. They ask, “How much autonomy can we give AI?” I think the better question is: ✔️ “At what moment should AI be creative, and at what moment should it be disciplined?” Alan, who is both a tech visionary and a world-class chess master, put it perfectly: “Be creative at design time… but be more disciplined at runtime.” That is the balance leaders need to get right. We should use the "magic" of AI to challenge our assumptions and reimagine our workflows while we are building. But when it comes to executing for a customer, we need a harness. Freedom when imagining. Discipline when executing. Enterprise AI without this structure isn't innovation—it's just risk with a nice interface. It was a powerful reminder of how Optum Health is reaching more people, particularly Veterans and their families in rural communities. With 21 units operating daily, the mobile fleet has already covered more than 340,000 miles in the first four months of this year – helping thousands of people where access is often more limited. Through these units, our team supports a wide range of services, including primary and behavioral health, preventive screenings, vaccinations, veterans’ health evaluations, audiology, optometry and disaster response. This is what it looks like to truly meet people where they are.

You know it is worth multi-millions 💵 to ensure you have accurate RAF scores on your at-risk MA patients heading into 2026, and also that building up the claims content for your Alternative Submission Method (ASM) supplemental file generation is labor-intensive and requires analytical rigor. ⚠️ CMS CY 2027 Advance Notice: What PACE Should Watch Closely CMS’s CY 2027 Advance Notice proposes an accelerated transition of PACE risk adjustment toward MA models, moving to a 50% PACE / 50% MA blend in 2027 and 100% MA by 2028. The proposal increases reliance on CMS-HCC v28 and encounter-based diagnoses, affecting Parts C, D, ESRD, and frailty adjusters. While framed as improving payment accuracy, PACE organizations may want to closely assess: - Risk score impact under v28 - Encounter data readiness - Financial implications for frail, high-acuity populations The direction is clear: PACE payment is continuing to align with MA. At Dina, we’re already seeing this convergence drive greater focus on encounter data quality, longitudinal diagnosis capture, and risk transparency.
