Denton Parson reacted on thisDenton Parson reacted on thisCrushed to have missed #CPExpo this year, the first non-Covid related miss in 20 years. My dad passed away suddenly last Friday. It was unexpected, and other than being physically banged up for most of his adult life, he was otherwise in good health up until the time of his death. I would not be the leader or the person I am today without his influence. He had an unbelievable work ethic, and truly lived his life in service to others. I also would not have achieved the success I have without the amazing people around me. I go to work every day looking to help the people under my care get just a little better than they were yesterday. I know that if my people are growing, the company goals will take care of themselves. I have made many mistakes along the way, am I am grateful to have so many leaders that have allowed me the grace to learn and grow. I try to do the same for others. I also am thankful that God gave me an amazing mom and dad, an unbelievable wife, and 2 wonderful children, and just like my father before me I will live my life in service to them. I'm grateful to the Channel Partners team for being recognized in the Circle of Excellence as Industry Leader of the Year, but the seeds were planted almost a half century ago with the best dad I could ask for. Until we meet again...

When I graduated college, I had basically learned how to read. Really well. A useful skill, to be sure. In contrast, he learned to create this … including doing the actual coding that build the site. https://martinberedo.com

Losing my position forced me into a place I hadn’t fully planned for, but looking back, it also pushed me into something I probably needed. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to create video and website content for multiple companies and businesses, helping them tell their stories, showcase what they do, and ultimately grow their business. It hasn’t been smooth. There's been a lot of highs… and a TON of lows. But no matter what, I keep going, and that’s what I’m most proud of. I'm still learning, and still moving forward. Denton Parson reacted on thisDenton Parson reacted on thisTransitions are never simple. They carry weight — the kind that comes from watching talented colleagues move on, and the kind that comes from stepping into something bigger. I'm grateful and humbled to share that I've been promoted to Vice President of Network at WOW! (WideOpenWest) as we enter a new chapter under DigitalBridge and Crestview Partners. This moment isn't just mine. It belongs to every colleague and leader who invested in me along the way — who challenged my thinking, sharpened my judgment, and showed me what it looks like to lead. I carry those lessons forward every day. It also belongs to the colleagues and peers who gave years of dedication to this company. Restructuring means some incredibly talented people are now exploring what's next. If you're connected to any of them, don't hesitate to reach out — they're worth your time. As for what's ahead: WOW! is positioned for something special. The work in front of us — next-generation broadband, network transformation, and building the infrastructure our customers deserve — is exactly the kind of challenge I got into this industry to take on. Onward.

The messages, calls, and support from this community were incredible (and yes, slightly overwhelming for an introvert masquerading as an extrovert). Today, I'm excited to announce that I'm joining SilverSky as a Strategic Partner Manager, where I'll be helping best-of-breed partners in the West build their cybersecurity dynasties. Huge thanks to Bruce Wirt and John Britton for taking a chance on me. I promise to bring relentless energy and commitment to helping our partners succeed—no shortcuts, just results. 💪 For those who don't know SilverSky: they're not just another cybersecurity firm. They're the real deal, and I'm genuinely pumped to help our partners protect what matters most to their clients. tThey even won the Intelisys Cybersecurity supplier of the year! no easy feat amongst a sea of competition. To everyone who reached out during my transition: thank you. Your support reminded me why I love this industry—it's full of good people doing important work. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some dynasties to help build. (Also, if anyone knows how to build a dynasty without caffeine, please advise. Asking for a friend who is definitely me.) ☕ and P.S. if you run one of the top partners West of the Mississippi, we need to talk ASAP. I will only work with a very selective group of 20 or so.😁 #Cybersecurity #NewBeginnings #SilverSky #PartnerEcosystem #GratefulAndCaffeinated

Great reporting from Doug Adams on the problematic micro-management of this grant program by NTIA. Once envisioned as a “decentralized” program in which the federal Government recognized the states know their own markets better than a DC bureaucrat, BEAD is now looking more and more like a badly run reverse auction. This needs to be stopped.

AT&T completed the acquisition of the Lumen consumer FTTH division and Verizon completed the acquisition of Frontier. Next up is Cox+Charter. A lot of consolidation in the ISP space. Lot of changes in the cellco space as well. The big keep getting bigger - not better, just bigger - with hardly any anti-trust scrutiny. AT&T has far more market power now than it did in 1982 (they were divested in 1984).

Let’s keep BEAD from building yesterday’s networks tomorrow... Congress defined Priority Broadband Projects with two prongs: 100/20 Mbps today, and the ability to easily scale for tomorrow. That second prong only applies to PBPs — and it’s what makes them “priority.” If states don’t enforce it in SUBGRANTEE AGREEMENTS, they risk legal challenges, clawbacks of provisional awards, and wasted taxpayer dollars. Recent press reports have suggested that EchoStar is negotiating to sell its AWS-3 holdings to Verizon. Let's take a deeper dive... EchoStar's AWS-3 holdings come in two blocks: 1) 15 MHz of uplink spectrum nationwide in frequency range 1695-1710. EchoStar paired this with its AWS-4 holdings to create a new band n70 and went to considerable effort to work with chipset manufacturers, OEMs and RAN vendors to get it deployed. This extra effort was factored into the original auction price which was about $0.50 per MHz POP. If Verizon buys this block, it would likely need to go through a similarly challenging deployment effort. Any deal above $2.5 billion for this block would be a win for SATS. 2) A 5x5 MHz block covering about two-thirds of the US. By contrast, this is perhaps the most marketable of anything in the EchoStar spectrum portfolio. All three major carriers have deployed AWS-3 and VZ and AT&T paid around $2.90 per MHz POP in the auction back in 2015. With the potential for a bidding war, one would imagine that EchoStar would require pricing well above $3 per MHz POP in a deal with Verizon. Anything below $7 billion for this piece (or $9.5 billion for the two together) would be a disappointment. The other interesting element of EchoStar's involvement with AWS-3 relates to its use of designated entities to purchase the spectrum. After a lengthy court battle, EchoStar was required to return spectrum covering about 1/3 of the US for subsequent re-auction by the FCC and to provide a $3 billion backstop against whatever proceeds are raised in the auction. Would a near term deal with Verizon potentially impact the proceeds from the subsequent re-auction and expose SATS to additional liability? This would certainly be another factor that would make for a complicated price negotiation with VZ.

Encouraging progress for broadband expansion. The NTIA has approved final BEAD proposals for 18 states and territories—an important step toward unlocking billions in funding to deliver high-speed internet to underserved communities. What this means for infrastructure partners: As BEAD funding advances, large-scale broadband design and construction efforts will accelerate. Navigating permitting, regulatory requirements, and complex project management will be essential for timely deployment. Partners with deep expertise in these areas, like eX2 Technology, a Vivacity Company, will play a critical role in helping states and providers move from planning to execution. 📈 U.S. Fiber Deployment Hits an All-Time High — Are We About to Overtake Cable? 📌 In 2025, U.S. fiber broadband providers passed 11.8 million new homes, pushing total FTTH passings to ~98.3 million — nearing the 100 million milestone and now covering over 60% of U.S. households. Average take rates climbed to ~46.5%, with even higher penetration where competitive fiber exists, signaling that fiber-to-fiber competition boosts adoption. 👉 This isn’t just a build number — it suggests fiber could surpass cable broadband as the dominant U.S. platform by ~2028, reshaping competitive strategy and prioritizing investment in both new builds and overbuilds. 🔗 Source: Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) annual deployment survey—a record-breaking year. https://lnkd.in/eVyE-gFW
