A few years ago, we partnered with CTM Unlimited and Chevron to produce a series of videos as part of Chevron's racial equity strategy. As a proud HBCU graduate of Tennessee State University and former HBCU adjunct professor at Prairie View A&M University, I was truly honored to work on this special project. This video highlights the continued need for HBCUs and types of contributions HBCU grads make in the corporate space every day. As I said in some of my other posts this month, Black history isn’t just something we reflect on, it’s something we’re actively making. The collaboration between CTM and Twice Media, two Black women-owned companies, supports Chevron's on-going commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and we are grateful that they trusted us to tell such an important story. #letsgo #BlackHistoryMonth #makinghistory

The Ke'nekt Cooperative has launched its One Acre for Change campaign to raise funds for a 20,000-square-foot commercial building that will house gathering spaces, co-working, retail and more. ​ The vision? Black History Month invites reflection on the legacy of Black-owned agencies and their lasting influence on the communications profession. Over more than 35 years in this business, I have seen how Black-owned agencies helped advance strategic thinking rooted in cultural understanding, responsibility and trust. That work shaped how communications evolved and how organizations engage their audiences today. As a leader in this industry, I understand how important it is to recognize where these practices came from and whose perspectives continue to guide the work. The legacy of Black-owned agencies is present in many of the standards we rely on today. Day 2 of HFAS18 at The Glasshouse was a powerful reminder that the Black Creative Economy is not a trend, it’s a strategy. From the featured artists and their striking artwork to the special guests in attendance. But there is a collective who makes all the difference in recognizing the value in the artists and contributing to their rising success: art collectors. Art collectors see the advantages that artists bring to communities and society. When an art piece is purchased, it’s considered an investment to help artists continue their craft while building excitement around an artist’s oeuvre, especially for Black artists who are severely underrepresented in the art scene. Founder and curator of the Atlanta Fine Art Exhibition, Okeeba Jubalo established the exhibit in 2009 to provide a platform for artists to showcase their talents and for art collectors to buy exclusive, one-of-one artwork. The Atlanta Fine Art Exhibition is a nationwide mobile fine art showcase. The most recent installment was hosted at the Emma Darnell Museum and Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia, in early 2023. This year’s exhibition featured 44 artists that displayed work ranging from sculptures, mixed media pieces, collages, and paintings. Atlanta-based art collectors and married couple Yvonne Dragon and Randall Dragon understand the need to sow their financial seed into the community of artists to help them flourish.
