    I served as Commissioner and have served 2 terms as Chair of the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. The Commission reviews, approves and assists the Overland Park Police Department in the promotions process for officers below the rank of Captain. The Commissioners participate in the hiring process of new officers by reviewing the full documentation set and participating in the interview panel.     I served as Commissioner and have served 2 terms as Chair of the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. The Commission reviews, approves and assists the Overland Park Police Department in the promotions process for officers below the rank of Captain. The Commissioners participate in the hiring process of new officers by reviewing the full documentation set and participating in the interview panel. The Commission is also responsible for hearing appeals of disciplinary matters. I ended my Commission tenure as I was elected and sworn-in to serve on the City Council.

    Lifetime Member of board of directors for the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers (KC Crime Commission TIPS Hotline). Served as the Board Chairman and President. Our mission is to facilitate a partnership between the community, the media and law enforcement in order make the metropolitan area a safer place to live, work and visit. Our "Scholastic Tips" program has prevented 19 suicides, as well as enabled interventions in various in-school crimes, all while keeping tipsters anonymous. As a…

As a board member, I am very proud of what we are doing in the Blue Valley School District, Olathe Public Schools and other districts.

We studied economic development, infrastructure, public safety, healthcare, quality of life, etc.
