Jon Crossley liked thisJon Crossley liked thisIt’s been an incredible ride. I’ve been working nonstop for more than five decades – starting at age 8 delivering 100 papers, 365 days a year. At 15, I worked in the produce department at a discount grocery store where the working conditions weren’t great, but I married this amazing girl from the snack bar. After college, I worked as a mechanical engineer on surgical lasers until I got the chance to do frontline technical support at Novell . Twelve years later, I had helped create ZENworks, earned a VP title, and I accepted an offer from Microsoft. Jump ahead another 18 years, and there were multiple billion-dollar businesses and entirely new classes of products wishing me well as I came back home to Utah to spend these last 5 years at Qualtrics. Each of those stops taught me something I couldn’t have learned anywhere else, but all those lessons are for another day and other posts. The one thing that was true everywhere I went was the importance of the people around you - the people you work with (EX), and the people you serve (CX). There is no new product feature, no emerging technology, and no market-shifting innovation that can replace that basic fact. Everything, every time, comes down to the culture and the individuals who bring a vision to life. Whether you are leading a company, a team, a home office, or just calibrating your own life, you have 3 foundational responsibilities: — Stake out an enduring, data-driven, and differentiated vision. — Build up the organizational structures that will accelerate you towards that vision. — Put the right leaders in those structures and empower them to do their best work. Then you work on culture. Every major mistake I made in my career traces back to a miscalculation in one of the three bullets above. I am the end product of literally thousands of people who have helped and influenced me over the last 50 years. Trying to list them all here would be impossible, but I’ll find a way to tell them in person every chance I get. I promise you that there is no single character trait that will serve you better than to travel through this world with a heart full of gratitude. The step into retirement is more exciting to me than any of the steps that have come before it. Thank you for being part of my story.

Jon Crossley liked thisJon Crossley liked thisThrilled to announce that I've joined Vyntelligence, the category leader in Agentic Video Intelligence! After going deep on agentic AI as a builder for the past eight months, discovering Vyn was perfect timing. It was exactly what I'd been aspiring to build, taking Agentic AI to scaled, real-world value. Now I have the fortunate opportunity to help Vyn scale to the next level, boosting GTM execution, driving Product Marketing, expanding Partnerships, and unlocking new avenues for growth in the US. Vyn has built something genuinely new and game-changing. The eyes and ears of field operations, powered by Agentic Video Intelligence. A platform that helps customers and field service teams work faster, resolve issues more efficiently and safely, and deliver better outcomes, all through guided video capture on a phone. Trusted by 90% of top infrastructure firms across utilities, telecoms, and green energy in the UK, and now rapidly expanding in the US with the backing of Morgan Stanley and Blume Equity. Nearly three weeks in and the onboarding experience has been exceptional. I've met the US team, attended the IUCX conference learning from our talented field team and engaging with customers, prospects and partners. Last week I was at our global HQ in the UK, going deep into our product and visiting two of our marquee customers to hear firsthand how they're getting real value from Vyn. The energy has been incredible. Huge thanks to Kapil Singhal and the entire Vyntelligence team for the warm welcome. This is just the beginning! If you're in utilities, telecoms, green energy, or any industry with field and frontline operations, DM me and let's talk about what Vyntelligence can do for you. And if you're a partner, SI, hyperscaler, or ISV looking to work with a category leader with real momentum, now is the time. DM me and we'll connect. Jon Crossley liked thisJon Crossley liked thisI’m thrilled to share that I have officially completed the AB-900, AB-730, and AB-731 Microsoft certifications! 🎓 As we transition into the era of Agentic AI, these credentials have provided a 360-degree view of what it takes to lead a successful transformation: AB-900 (Admin): Mastering the "Engine Room"—securing and governing AI agents and Copilot. AB-730 (Business): Bridging the gap—translating AI capabilities into measurable business ROI. AB-731 (Leadership): The big picture—navigating the ethics and change management of an AI-first organization. The takeaway? Tech is the catalyst, but strategy and governance are the true enablers. I’m excited to bring these frameworks to my work at Avanade to help our clients move from experimentation to scale. #agenticAI #Learning #AI #digitaltransformation

Jon Crossley liked thisJon Crossley liked thisI’m proud to share that I’ve completed my first year at the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University! This past year has pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect—from learning directly from industry professionals to navigating the Entry-to-a-Major process. Along the way, I’ve gained not only technical knowledge, but also a deeper sense of purpose and direction. While the year came with its challenges and rigorous coursework, it also gave me the opportunity to build meaningful connections with professors and peers who have shaped my experience here at Texas A&M in a lasting way. Through it all, one idea has stood out: passion is what drives true growth. I’m committed to becoming an engineer who leads with integrity, responsibility, and humanity—and I’m grateful to be in an environment that supports that vision. Looking forward to what the next few years will bring. Thanks, and gig ’em! 👍

Jon Crossley liked thisJon Crossley liked this"I left a Corporate VP role at the Walt Disney Company to open a hair salon." I've said that line in a lot of rooms. It still gets the same reaction every time — a pause, a slight head tilt, and then genuine curiosity. That's exactly the point. I just recently had the chance to speak on a panel at the Manatee Chamber of Commerce — Networking University, focused on mastering face-to-face conversations. And that line was my opening, because it's the truest thing I can say about how I approach networking: don't lead with your title. Lead with your tension. Titles are forgettable. Tension creates curiosity. Curiosity is the door to common ground. Common ground is the thesis I've built my entire professional life around. At Ernst & Young, it was "value the relationship over the transaction." At Getty Images during the dot-com era, I learned to find common ground horizontally across an entire industry — with companies that weren't obvious partners but shared the same ecosystem. At Disney, I learned something I've never forgotten: the best organizations don't leave relationship building to chance. They institutionalize it — repeat it intentionally until it becomes instinctive. Then my wife, Michelle, and I moved to Sarasota and started a business from scratch. Zero contacts. Zero Chamber experience. What saved me was taking those same instincts and applying them one conversation at a time - on a much smaller stage than Disney, but still appropriate. One thing I almost never do at Chamber events: talk about Sport Clips Haircuts. The moment I lead with my business, I've turned a potential relationship into a pitch. Instead, I invest in committees, board roles, and community work — environments where your character shows up before your business does. Character is what people actually purchase. Thank you to the Manatee Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity.Thank you to Blair Bloomston (our amazing moderator), Brandy Britton, and Karen Jordan, my fellow panelists.

Many customers in the Federal space have complex disparate data across focus areas. Decisions are driven based on combining data sources, and making those decisions at the data level can help drive faster and more accurate answers for downstream applications and LLMs. In this blog post, Seth M. explores how "data gravity"—the increasing difficulty and cost of moving large datasets—exacerbates challenges, where applying complex business rules often leads to latency and infrastructure strain. To counter this, the Seth highlights an integrated approach using Corticon.js for decision authoring and MarkLogic as a data hub. Corticon.js empowers business analysts to build decision logic via intuitive tools like Corticon.js Studio: defining vocabularies from schemas, crafting rulesheets for conditional logic, sequencing via ruleflows, and validating with ruletests. This compiles into portable JavaScript for seamless deployment. MarkLogic complements this by ingesting data through Flux and triggering inline evaluations on document arrival, enriching records with decisions, audit messages, and traces—without any data movement. This preserves lineage, boosts throughput, and ensures a single source of truth. Key benefits include transparent, auditable decisions for compliance; reduced costs from eliminating data transfers; and enhanced efficiency for sectors like public programs (e.g., automating eligibility and claims). For LLMs and apps, an explainability dashboard visualizes policies and traces, while an AI-in-the-loop chatbot leverages Retrieval-Augmented Generation from MarkLogic to deliver grounded, context-rich responses. When we get the foundations right: smart systems, streamlined processes, create frictionless access to information then we free up time, energy and cost for what matters most: people, prevention, and personalised care. This is the shift towards 2035: – From analogue to digital – From reactive to proactive – From hospital to home Wherever you are in the UK or globally, the challenge is the same, as a dear mentor of mine frequently reminds me ‘we are more alike than we are different’, we all face rising demand, stretched budgets, and a tired and depleted workforce doing more with less. By making it easier to do the right thing, we unlock capacity, protect the front line, and build services around the person, not the organisation. Great to see this in action in California and a timely reminder that transformation starts with trust, capability and strong partnerships. Dave D.
