"We are underperforming as a state..." As a Minnesotan and a business owner this was painful to hear. Some highlights from Douglas Loon that jumped out to me: * Other states are doing a better job at attracting companies * Onerous regulatory environment and slow permitting (600 days to get an industrial permit 🧐) * We have flat population growth, which causes challenges with.... * Workforce availability & Skill gaps * Challenges holding on to younger workers. Neighboring states are actively competing to attract young talent. Business owners - get involved with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, your local chamber and other pro-business voices. We need to let our elected officials know what we need to GROW. Growth creates jobs, opportunities, and a thriving community.

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Kevin Conroy!    University of Wisconsin-Madison has long been a catalyst for discovery, and Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) has been an absolutely crucial partner. Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship of all kinds is one of the most dynamic ways we can continue that trajectory and make real-world impact. And for success, we all need to work together. As Kevin puts it: "Looking ahead, the opportunities are immense. Fields like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, nuclear energy and life sciences will shape the future, and UW-Madison is well-positioned to play a prominent role. Achieving this will require continued collaboration between the university, WARF and the private sector in a system where ideas flow freely, partnerships are encouraged and solutions are brought to market efficiently."

AI isn’t just a computing story. It’s becoming an energy story. This piece looks at the proposed ~9 GW gas power project in Ohio tied to AI data center demand. The scale is staggering. Projects like this highlight how quickly electricity demand from AI could reshape power infrastructure planning and economics. One point that stands out: the cost of reliable, large-scale power for AI may be far higher than many expect. As hyperscalers push for dedicated generation and firm capacity, the traditional model of grid expansion and cost sharing starts to break down.
