ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews are now the first stop for millions of buyers — they ask a question, get a synthesised answer, and never visit a single source. Your brand can influence that answer. The fog, the food, the energy. It's in my wiring. So when a family I grew up with in SF asked me to help them close this chapter, there was nowhere else I would have rather been. This one wasn't simple. 462–464 Fredrick is a turn-of-the-century Victorian 3-unit building. The kind with bones that could tell stories. My client bought it over 60 years ago. Think about that. The neighborhood it witnessed, the city it watched change. And now, after all of it, the time had come to pass it on. Tenant-occupied buildings in San Francisco come with layers. Rent control laws, eviction protections, complex negotiations, this city doesn't make it easy, and it shouldn't. But that's exactly the kind of deal where the right representation matters most. We navigated every piece of it, and we got it done. Here are 2 of our favorite AI agents for CMOs 1) Market and buyer truth agent This agent directly impacts conversion rates, sales alignment, and overall GTM effectiveness. It replaces internal assumptions with real buyer behavior. For CMOs, this is one of the highest leverage investments across the entire marketing function. Core responsibilities: - Analyze sales calls, CRM data, and win/loss reports at scale - Identify buying triggers, objections, and decision criteria - Surface patterns in how buyers describe problems and evaluate solutions - Continuously update messaging inputs based on real-world data Real world use cases for it: - A company shifts messaging from “cost savings” to “speed and confidence in decision making,” leading to higher mid funnel conversion - Sales and marketing align around a unified understanding of buyer priorities, improving consistency across touchpoints - Product teams incorporate buyer insights into roadmap prioritization 2) SEO and AI visibility agent This agent impacts inbound pipeline quality and long-term discoverability. As search behavior evolves, the AI search game (AEO and GEO) is becoming increasingly important. While legacy tools have been helpful, creating an agent custom-tailored to your brand and ICP will go a long way. Notably, a big shift here is from traffic volume to traffic quality. Marketing and Sales teams rely regularly on their internal Sales Portal - a private repository of critical Sales Enablement content that can’t live on the public web. Competitive Analysis, battle cards, trap-setters, product FAQs, pitch decks, Analyst Briefings, demos, ABM content, RFP responses and other critical Sales Enablement content that reside in your cloud-based repositories (Google Drive) and/or local enterprise file systems get pulled into this #SalesPortal on a periodical basis. Product Marketing provisions access to this portal. And over time, it becomes a static, manually maintained archive — useful, but increasingly stale. Sales stops using it and starts depending on Product Marketing via last minute emails for critical content for their pitches - a terrible deal breaker, literally. AI liberates Sales from this dysfunctional model. The AI- driven Sales Portal isn’t just better content management, it’s transforms into a live, market-aware intelligence system. 1. So how can this be implemented technically? A modern, AI-native Sales Portal can stay live and connected by: - Event-driven data ingestion pulling from controlled sources only (CRM, win/loss notes, call recordings, analyst updates, approved competitor feeds) - Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), where AI never “invents” content but generates outputs strictly from vetted, permission-d knowledge bases - Continuous refresh pipelines that re-score and update content when market signals change - new competitor pricing, feature launches, messaging shifts But “live” can’t come at the cost of security. 2. How do you ensure secure access and privacy of sales content? To prevent leakage, misuse, or competitor access, the portal must be: - Zero-trust by design — every request authenticated, authorized, and logged - Role-based and deal-based access controls, so Sales sees only what applies to their accounts, regions, and deal stages - Private model deployments or isolated inference layers — no training on proprietary data, no data flowing back into public LLMs - Encrypted at rest and in transit, with strict key management and audit trails - Content watermarking and usage monitoring to detect unusual access patterns or mass exports 3. Most importantly, AI doesn’t replace Product Marketing judgment. PMM defines: - Source truth - Competitive positioning guardrails - What can and cannot be generated AI handles: - Speed - Synthesis - Personalization at scale The AI-driven Sales Portal stops being a static repository that’s always catching up and becomes a secure, living system of record for GTM intelligence. In a world where competitors change messaging weekly and buyers are better informed than ever, the fastest narrative wins, but only if it’s controlled.
