Ryan Esparza shared thisGeorgia friends - anyone sending their kids to The University of Texas at Austin next year (or know anyone in your network)? If so, the Texas Exes Atlanta Chapter would like to help! Please encourage them to apply for a scholarship here: https://lnkd.in/eSk9Kk9N 🤘

Ryan Esparza shared this“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱”... Yes, this is another football related post. Sorry, but it’s too good not to tell. This time, my team won the game - however the story here isn’t about the outcome on the field, it’s about the generosity of Texas Exes & Longhorns across the country before the game even kicked off. Here was the situation - a number of Texas Exes found themselves unable to make the trip to Atlanta to watch the Peach Bowl. Instead of selling their tickets, they decided to donate them and send kids/families/staff from local Atlanta area non-profits to the game, free of charge. 68 donated tickets in total… mostly in batches of two and four. This wasn’t some big corporate block of tickets… these were individual Longhorns all making individual decisions to start the new year off generously. Little did the 68 ticket recipients know, they were in for an instant classic. Maybe we made a few new University of Texas fans (it’s a hard thing to do in Bulldog country). Maybe we inspired someone to attend UT and be a future Texas Ex. Maybe just maybe when these kids are older they’ll look back at the memory of this game, will be reminded of the kindness of strangers, and decide to pay it forward. No matter what, it was a win on and off the field this week. A motto of The University of Texas at Austin is “what starts here changes the world”… this time around, maybe just with a simple act of kindness, two or four donated tickets at a time, we changed someone’s world.

Ryan Esparza shared thisIt’s never fun when your team loses, especially when it’s to Georgia and you LIVE in Georgia. However, this weekend taught me / reinforced a few things…. 1. 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: the game enabled us to spend quality time with dear friends in town from Austin. We hope to never take these opportunities for granted. 2. 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: It’s incredible what can get done when a team is time boxed. The Texas Exes Atlanta Chapter board had four days... FOUR DAYS to pull off two big events - a welcome happy hour and official tailgate that both sold out and were attended by over 350 Longhorns from all over the world (literally). This is on top of our regularly scheduled watch party, too. 3. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: The aforementioned board is all volunteers... volunteers with day jobs who all dove in during early mornings and late evenings to make this weekend a resounding success. Without the collaboration of a committed team it wouldn’t have happened. 4. “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱”: through partnerships, ticket sales, and generous donations from Longhorn Nation we were able to raise over $10,000. Ten thousand dollars that go straight to scholarships for Georgia kids to attend The University of Texas at Austin. Even though my team lost, I enter this week overwhelmed with gratitude for those around me and the impact we we've been able to make together. And the best news... we may get to do it all over again in a few weeks should Texas make it to the Peach Bowl. Horns Up 🤘

Ryan Esparza shared thisVendors aka aspiring partners: I've got an idea... What if today, #GivingTuesday, your sales and marketing departments put away the free swag in exchange for donations made to causes that are important to corporate buyers... think of the impact we could collectively make. Also, I bet you'd stand out from the crowd and might actually get that meeting / demo. BTW - it's not too late... there are still a few hours left to put this strategy to work!

Ryan Esparza shared thisIt's that time of the year again... #GivingTuesday. If you find yourself thankful during this holiday season and are looking for somewhere to give back (and have a heart for kids), look no further than Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. Did you know #BGCMA serves 2,400 kids from our community and 7,000 kids each year? This year I'm only asking for $24 - $24 that helps support 2,400 kids across Atlanta as we close out 2024. Would you consider joining me and making an impact? https://lnkd.in/eASzDxAt

Ryan Esparza shared this<Guilty as charged> Phenomenal message from an amazing leader and friend of mine that is definitely worth reposting! When I think of impact in my life there are always names, individuals who are on that list. While it may not feel like it, don’t discount the impact you’re able to make every day, in every relationship and interaction you have. Thanks for the reminder Frederick!Ryan Esparza shared this🌍 Changing the World vs. Changing Someone’s World There’s a big difference between trying to change the world and changing someone’s world. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of making a huge impact, but my journey as a leader has shown me the value of starting with individuals. My colleague Kristina shared that the #KWAP24 - Keylingo’s annual corporate retreat - in Portugal has been the greatest experience of her life. Hearing that reminded me that while not everyone will change the world on a grand scale, each of us has the power to change someone’s world for the better—and that’s where the real magic happens. Focusing on making a difference at the individual level creates a ripple effect. When we lift up those around us—our colleagues, clients, and communities—broader change follows. The truth is, changing the world is big and complex. And whether or not you’ve changed it for the better depends on who you ask. Changing someone’s world is more achievable and objective. Give someone a job, an opportunity, or an experience they would not have had without you. Acknowledge their contributions. Create a space where they can be themselves and thrive. Let’s start here. What do you think? How do you aim to make an impact in your everyday life? 💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #PositiveImpact #KeylingoLife

The stars aligned. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ I’ll be honest, most days I’m middle of the pack (if not, a bit lower)… Consistent. Respectable. Average. But today, it clicked. Not only the pattern, but the “OBJECTIVE” behind the game - a game of skill, luck, chance – with friends… Have I ever posted when I was dead last? Hmmm, no. Have I ever marveled around how Ryan Esparza, Dane Bamburry, MBA, Gregory T. Allarding, Donna Gallaher, Paula Schwartz and other of my peers always crush this – and what would it feel like to do the same. Ummm, ya. Daily. LESSON: There’s power in community. There’s pleasure in competition. There’s brilliance in “building the ARENA” for that to happen. Yesterday was my day. Today? Back to the middle… What areas of friendly competition are you building in your software, culture, or tribe?

Ryan Esparza reacted on thisRyan Esparza reacted on thisExactly a week ago (I guess I needed the week to process the experience), Leadership Atlanta celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026! I had the honor and privilege to serve as Program Chair. I am grateful for the trust that the board, staff, and alumni placed in me to take on the role. Serving as Program Chair for Leadership Atlanta is one of the greatest honors of my professional career. This city and this community have poured much to me into me —serving was a great opportunity to pour it back. Every session, every conversation, every classmate we stretched, is a reminder of why the work matters. The year was centered around the class theme: Different Perspectives. Shared Purpose. Echo chambers can be dangerous! The class engaged different voices in various forums around a shared purpose: An Atlanta where all have equitable opportunities to thrive. Class of 2026, you did it! It was great getting to know many of you and engaging in deep conversations. It was a honor to serve you. Let’s continue the work. Thank you Pat Upshaw-Monteith, Rachel Sprecher, and our strong volunteer group for your committed and unwavering support of the mission. #LeadershipAtlanta #ATL #LeadingWithPurpose #Grateful

Ryan Esparza liked thisRyan Esparza liked thisI put in an offer to buy a 6-unit apartment building this week. The owner has had it for over 30 years. The rents are well below market. Every unit needs to be updated. And at the price he’s asking, the numbers don’t work unless the building gets renovated — which means the current tenants can’t stay. That’s the part no one talks about. We celebrate the deal. We celebrate the value-add. We celebrate the return. But what about the people who have been living there for years, paying their rent faithfully, who now have nowhere to go? This isn’t hypothetical for me. I have a woman in one of my LiveLikeMike homes right now whose story is exactly this. She lived in her home for over 20 years. Her rent never went up. When the property sold, she couldn’t find anything at the same price. She couldn’t afford anything else. So she became homeless. Then she found me. That house she lived in? It was going to sell regardless. It was going to get renovated regardless. But nobody had a plan for her. Nobody connected her to the right resources before the transition happened. Nobody made sure she had somewhere to land. So as I’m working through this deal, that’s what I keep coming back to. Not just how do I make the numbers work — but how do I help the legacy tenants who are there right now? How do I get them connected to the right people? How do I make sure that when this building changes hands, the people inside it don’t fall through the cracks? How do I keep this building affordable after I take out the loans to renovate it? I don’t have all the answers yet. But I know that asking the question is the first step. If you work in housing, social services, or tenant advocacy in Atlanta — I’d love to connect. This is the kind of problem we should be solving together. #AffordableHousing #Atlanta #LiveLikeMike #LegacyTenants #HousingCrisis #RealEstate #CommunityFirst #DisplacementMatters

Ryan Esparza liked thisRyan Esparza liked thisI’ve written this post 100 times and kept deleting it. We are shutting Zinnia down. I had a different version drafted. “Zinnia has been acquired by XYZ.” And to be transparent, we did explore acquisitions. Some looked good on paper. One was mostly for optics. But none of them felt right. They either didn’t align with our belief in human-first selling, or they weren’t truly acquisitions in the way people imagine when they hear the word. I could’ve taken the easy headline. I could’ve added “2x exited founder” to my LinkedIn. But I couldn’t do it. My entire ethos has been built around ruthless authenticity. So here’s the reality: We lost access to our primary data source. We started Zinnia in a pre-LLM world. The market changed fast. Companies don’t need more AI tools right now. They need help understanding how to actually use AI. AI consulting became 10x our SaaS revenue. So we called it. And I’m proud of that decision. I’m proud of the product we built. I’m proud of the customers we helped. I’m proud we gave it everything we had. And more than anything, I’m proud of the team behind it all. I’m especially grateful for the lifelong friendship I built with my cofounder, Marco Dell'Olio. Thank you to every customer who trusted us, every investor who believed in us, and every person who followed along and cheered us on. We named the company Zinnia because zinnias are known for growing quickly and thriving through difficult conditions. We wanted to help revenue teams do the same. In the end, I think I grew more personally than the company ever could. And ‘Resilient’ has become my middle name. This isn’t the end of our story, just the end of this chapter. I will share more on what we learned and what's next soon, but for now, thank you indefinitely for the support. 💛

This is a photo of me yesterday completing the swim portion of a local triathlon. I am happy because I almost quit out there in the water yesterday. I started hyperventilating and panicking. I had to do the backstroke for a little bit and calm myself down. But I didn’t give up! I finished the race! Do things that scare you!

Ryan Esparza reacted on thisRyan Esparza reacted on thisThe #Longhorn100 is always the best night. 🤘 My favorite part of the night? The wildly chaotic group photo—winners from every major, grad year, industry, company size, company age, revenue level, and impact, all in one picture. In my humble opinion, it’s not about where you rank—it’s about making the list. All 100 winners are part of a club of Longhorn entrepreneurs cheering each other on—and that’s pretty cool. Full ranked list: https://lnkd.in/gt3xXKVh 🤘 Fun Fact: A gum topped the list for the second year in a row. What are the odds? Last year it was REV GUM ... this year it is Zellie's. Ryan Esparza reacted on thisRyan Esparza reacted on thisLast night I had the honor of serving as the co-chair of "This is Home", Wellroot Family Services' annual gala. It was an evening filled with immense gratitude and a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community reaches back to support those in need. Wellroot’s impact is wide and deep: foster care, family resiliency counseling, kinship care, transitional and independent living for young adults, and family housing. The clearest lesson from the night: when young people are given stability, support, and someone who believes in them, they don’t just survive…they thrive. Endless thanks to: Everyone at Wellroot for the heart and hard work; everyone at Flourish Atlanta last night – you all were the most electric crowd; my phenomenal co-chair and my fellow woman in CRE, Jenny Wilkirson; the Gala Host Committee – you all went above and beyond (a Ferrari experience and a trip to Bali in the auction. What?!?!); Seyfarth Shaw LLP for steadfast support of me and probono work, special thanks to Ashley Cano and Kimberly McClain from Seyfarth’s Pro Bono and Philanthropy Department (you all answer the call, no matter how big or small); Olivia Jenkins, Grayson Moronta, Ralph Culpepper III, Esq., Angela Hsu, Mimi Krauss (and Ryan Murphy), Ariel Fristoe, Jacob O., and Chappell Mitchell—thank you for joining me, the night was more special with you all there. Lastly, Allison Ashe thank you for introducing me to Wellroot and inspiring me with your vision and impact.

Navigating Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business feels like stepping into the “emerald city” of innovation. You had me at shopping, sports, and exceptional experiences. When the Falcons, NBA, Mercedes-Benz, Pirelli, Gulfstream, Google, Experian, and IHG share a stage, this becomes a conversation about relevance and growth. “Branded Together” captures a reality many leaders are navigating. Consumers participate. They influence outcomes. They expect access and transparency. Sports. Mobility. Hospitality. Data. Technology. Different industries. Same pressure. How do brands stay indispensable when audiences expect involvement? How do partnerships extend value rather than dilute it? How does collaboration translate into measurable growth? Collaborative Partnerships: Highlighting the importance of strategic alliances in driving innovation. 9th annual session, cheers to Tim Halloran and the MBA class for orchestrating this impactful event. AI is not the enemy of experience, but it is exposing the cracks in how we share knowledge across generations. Reverse mentoring, bi-mentoring, call it what you will—what matters is curiosity on both sides of the table. The 22-year-old can show you the shortcut, and the 62-year-old can show you why the shortcut matters. The question is not if we bridge that gap, but how fast we build the guardrails to do it responsibly. So what do we do from here? Start the conversation inside your teams—swap skills, swap stories, and build AI literacy together.

At Sports Tech Atlanta, we’re excited to share an update on one of our portfolio companies, Umbrella — the Operating System for the modern creative. Umbrella unifies chat, scheduling, and project management into one platform, already helping sports, music, and entertainment teams save over $250K a year by eliminating operational friction. Umbrella is now rounding out its $1.2M pre-seed raise (YC SAFE, $10M post). They’ve secured early checks from Jerami Grant (NBA), Yale Rowe, and Brandon Hines — and investor momentum continues to build. We can’t share all the details yet, but a significant lead is aligning for the next phase. Only a limited allocation remains before the close. If you’re an investor tracking high-upside sports, creator, and entertainment infrastructure plays, this is one worth leaning into. Reach out to info@sportstechatlanta.com to learn more.

Rethinking Atlanta’s Growth Model 📈 Georgia Tech’s Gregory Randolph has a new opinion piece in the SaportaReport responding to recent coverage in The Wall Street Journal on Atlanta’s slowing population growth. Randolph’s essay challenges assumptions about the “end of growth” by examining what Atlanta’s shifting development patterns really mean—and offering thoughtful ideas for a more equitable, sustainable future. Faculty Emeritus Bruce Stiftel, FAICP praised the article as “a well-crafted synthesis of key issues surrounding Atlanta’s growth and thoughtful suggestions for future strategy.” 👉 Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/gkPbWN3C #UrbanPlanning #Atlanta #GeorgiaTechSCaRP #WeCanDoThat

This one feels personal. Scale Social AI wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of NC IDEA and the Triangle Tweener Fund. Both have played a meaningful role in helping founders like us build and stay rooted in #NorthCarolina. Access to capital is not abstract. It determines whether companies scale here or leave. Whether talent stays. Whether economic impact compounds locally. Seeing NC IDEA deepen its commitment and power the NC Tweener Fund, Powered by NC IDEA is a big moment for the state’s startup ecosystem. North Carolina is quietly building something durable.
