Excited to support these teams moving forward!Ron Frechette, CPC shared thisJust wrapped up a highly impactful week in New Orleans at Maritime Facility Security Officer (FSO) training hosted by our partners, Seebald & Associates. We’re proud to share that four members of the CyberSurv team are now FSO certified. More importantly, the experience provided a deeper, firsthand understanding of the realities FSOs navigate every day. Combined with our team’s decades of cybersecurity experience, this perspective allows us to deliver more practical, mission-aligned support tailored to the maritime environment. A sincere thank you to our instructor, Rich Sundland, for making the week both engaging and highly relevant to real-world operations. As the role of the FSO continues to evolve, cybersecurity is becoming a central component of facility security programs. With the introduction of 33 CFR 101 Subpart F, maritime facilities face a fundamental shift. Cybersecurity is no longer adjacent to physical security, it is now a core element of compliance, with deadlines approaching in July 2027. In this Register piece, CVE-2026-20963 (SharePoint deserialization → unauth RCE, zero clicks) went from “less likely to be exploited” in January Patch Tuesday to CISA KEV in March. And CISA’s giving agencies three days. Not exactly a leisurely change window. What’s extra spicy: Microsoft hasn’t updated the advisory to say “active exploitation,” and nobody knows yet if ransomware crews are in the mix.
