These past few days I’ve been visiting potential partners, and I didn’t bring my business cards.
Not ideal.
But it led to an interesting insight.
In almost every meeting, I heard:
“Yeah, leave me your card and I’ll share it internally.”
We all know how that usually goes.
So instead of relying on that, I tried something different.
“I don’t have one on me, but let me send you my digital card.”
I’d pull up
HiHello, Inc. and have them scan it right there, which naturally led to exchanging contact details on the spot.
The result?
Every conversation turned into a real point of contact.
Not a “maybe”.
Not a “we’ll pass it along”.
Actual names, emails, and next steps.
It made me rethink something simple:
Business cards are useful, but they can also create friction in the follow-up process if you rely on them too much.
This small mistake pushed me to be more intentional about how I capture and qualify contacts in person.
I’ll definitely keep carrying cards.
But I’ll also keep this approach.
Sometimes small operational gaps reveal better systems.
Curious, how are you handling contact capture and follow-ups in your teams?
