Because believing is hard when rent’s rising faster than hope. When good people lose jobs, not because they failed - but because someone misjudged a forecast. When the market swings like a mood, and the headlines whisper, “It’s only going to get worse.” We used to talk about resilience like it was a muscle. But what if it’s more like scar tissue - built every time we had to hold it together when things didn’t? I want to mess around with a new kind of belief. Not blind optimism. Not toxic positivity. But quiet, stubborn faith. Faith that I still matter - even when my title doesn’t. Faith that people are still good - even when the world feels cruel. Faith that things can get better - not because someone promised it, but because we’ve survived too much for it not to. The belief that love doesn’t need a résumé. Yesterday we were having breakfast at The Equestrain Hotel in Ocala, and a day before lunch at the Polo Pony, watching everything get prepped for the Derby. The energy, the anticipation, the build-up to the biggest race of the year. And not one person at that table could've guessed that 152 years of history was about to break. Cherie DeVaux became the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo crossed the finish line at 23-1 odds with Jose Ortiz aboard, and the woman in the red blazer finally got her moment. The math on this is wild. The Kentucky Derby started in 1875. Women couldn't vote yet. Couldn't own property in most states. Couldn't open a bank account without a husband's signature until 1974. And the sport of kings stayed exactly that. A sport for kings. Cherie didn't get here because the industry made room for her. She got here because she was undeniable. Because she built a barn, developed the horse, made the calls, and showed up every morning at 4am while the establishment kept handing trophies to the same names. This is what "first" actually looks like. Not a ceremony. Not a panel. A woman watching her horse come flying home and knowing she earned every inch of that ground. Nearly 17,000 American fans didn’t miss a beat. They sang our anthem. Every word. Loud and proud. No politics. No tariffs. No border. Just people — honoring their neighbors. Here’s the thing I keep coming back to: 👉 It’s not the people who want us divided. 👉 It’s not the fans in the stands. 👉 It’s not the family across the border. It’s the governments, the pundits, and the algorithms that profit from our outrage. Meanwhile, a hockey crowd in Buffalo just reminded the entire continent what class actually looks like. System designers are faced with many choices with which to manage this outside air and select the right system for the lobby, general areas, patient rooms, operating rooms, etc. Outside air management devices are available that can help ensure ASHRAE 62 standards are maintained throughout the supply air range of VAV systems and save energy at the same time. THis paper explores these various control options, compares alternatives, and reviews normal maintenance, cycling, and performance accuracy verification. Multiple air monitors will be discussed, producing a checks-and-balance system maintaining constant ventilation flow rates.

Bias for Action: There has been no shortage of recent verbiage about the massive undertaking needed to revitalize American manufacturing capacity. From the Wall Street Journal, to the Reindustrialize Conference in Detroit, much has been pontificated about what should be done, with what funding, and on what timeline. While talking and planning are key to charting the course, at some point, talk needs to become action. With this backdrop, I am pleased to have been part of the Ownership group that has acquired Reuther Mold & Manufacturing, which we have recently renamed to Momentous Mold & Machine - formerly Reuther Mold. Momentous has a rich history of building complex, high consequence hard metal tooling for a variety of industries. The 60,000+ square foot shop has over 30 CNC spindles, although the real highlight is the 60+ person staff that has a combined 2000+ years of tool and mold building experience. All of this capability is backed by ITAR registration and an AS9100 approved Quality Management System. For electric professionals: AEP Ohio was submitting paperwork at the PUCO stating their secondary-service customer demand (small businesses) was increasing 32% from 2024 to 2026. They were forecasting primary service demand (medium-sized businesses) to go up 21% in the same two-year period. Hyperscale data centers do not take either type of service. Energy professionals would know this is an obviously wrong forecast on its face. It is a nightmare for getting electric rates right. So why the increase? AEP Ohio was stuffing data center load forecasts into other rate classes. This is not gold-standard work - well, not our gold standard - it is an eye-opening failure to apply really basic principles in regulation. It is not a signal to look away, it is a signal to dig deeper into load forecasts and a call for reform. (See OMAEG comments in Case No. 26-0047)
