Jules has been a Waking Up member since 2019 and credits his meditation practice as playing a pivotal role in both his creative process when writing songs and his process of staying in a good head space when on the road touring. Tom Coburn reposted thisTom Coburn reposted thisThis year, we are offering a new option for applicants to the SSC Venture Partners accelerator: early admission. For the first time since we started running the program in 2014, we're giving motivated candidates the opportunity to have their summer plans (and a $10k investment) locked in by the end of March. The inspiration for this shift is fairly unsurprising if you're familiar with our founding story at SSC. After winning a pitch competition sophomore year, my partner Tom and his teammates were admitted to a summer accelerator program. Up until that point, he'd been focused on going to medical school to become a doctor, but getting to work on Jebbit full-time completely changed that plan. We're on the hunt for founders with the mindset of 2011 Tom Coburn: Ready to take an opportunity to build something real, without needing to hedge. Comfortable taking a bet on themselves. Interested in solving problems. The founders pictured below (and may others in our portfolio!) are great examples of what that mentality looks like irl - all of them came up with their first startup idea before graduating BC, and many of them completed SSC's summer program in the process. We're looking for the next Branick, Jimmy, Pedro, or Katie, too! We've found that teams who would be working on their idea even if they didn't do our program are often the ones who get the most out of it. We don't have to sell them on why it makes sense to spend the summer building a company. This year, we decided to make it easier for that group to opt in. Our deadline for early admission apps this Sunday, March 8 (the last day of BC's spring break). High-conviction aspiring Eagle entrepreneurs welcome! More info + application 🔗 ⤵️

(🔗 below) We're excited to be offering a new option this year: if you've already decided to go all in on your startup this summer, you can apply for early admission. Teams who complete an application by March 8th will receive a decision by the end of March. Tom Coburn shared thisWaking Up is proud to present a short video: Gratitude. Preview below and full video at wakingup.com/gratitude Experience poet David Whyte through composer Mark Guiliana’s lens in this sonic and visual collaboration on gratitude —a meditative exploration of gratitude through word, sound, and image. Mark, known for his mastery behind the drums, steps into the role of composer and filmmaker—bringing David’s beloved poem “Gratitude” to life in an intimate and unexpected way. His original score and personal visuals invite you to slow down, listen, and reflect on what it means to be awake to the gift of life itself. Tom Coburn shared thisThe Enjoy Life App is here! For the past 12 years I have sat on the board of an amazing education focused non profit, Enjoy Life Education. As anyone close to me knows, attending the Enjoy Life Academy each summer (a week-long leadership program for teens on college campuses across New England) is one of the most exciting and rewarding weeks of my year. Enjoy Life was founded by my former 8th grade science teacher, Evren Gunduz. As thousands of students have now said, Evren was the best teacher I ever had. Jebbit would have never happened if not for what I learned from him about life and leadership. The biggest request we get from our students every summer is how they can get more of the magic and teachings of Evren and the Enjoy Life Staff throughout the school year (over 90% return each summer for another Academy). The Enjoy Life App is designed to accomplish this goal. While built with our Academy teens and alumni in mind. It's for anyone! In under 4 minutes per day, Evren guides you through 3 daily actions designed to improve your mindset. Check it out at the link below. It's a phenomenal way to support a great non profit and at the same time improve the enjoyment of your own life. We've been beta testing for months and I've loved including it as part of my morning routine. I now do the daily meditation on Waking Up and then switch over and complete my 3 daily actions in the Enjoy Life App. If you check out the app, first, thank you! Second, hit me up with any/all feedback! We want to keep making it better! https://lnkd.in/eyGGEkqv

Tom Coburn shared thisWe just crossed 100,000 5-star reviews on Waking Up. This isn’t just a number — it’s a reflection of millions of moments people have taken to pause, look inward, and begin again. Every review represents someone who found a bit more clarity, calm, or understanding through the work Sam Harris, our teachers, and the incredible team at Waking Up have put into this app. While I've been a user of the app since 2018, I've only had the privilege of working with this team since January. From product and design to content, marketing, and support — it's an amazing, small, dedicated team who show up every day to make mindfulness more accessible and meaningful for people around the world. To everyone who has joined us on this journey: thank you for helping us reach this milestone. The impact of your presence and feedback continues to shape what we’re building. Here’s to the next 100,000 — and to everyone continuing to wake up, one moment at a time. #WakingUp #Mindfulness #Meditation #Milestone #Gratitude

We're excited to welcome Robyn Glaser to the Axum Capital Partners Advisory Board-and as a strategic advisor focused on expanding and activating the Axum Edge. Robyn is a rare operator whose 25+ year career spans sports, entertainment, technology, media, and principal investing — with a track record of helping organizations navigate pivotal moments, scale intelligently, and create transformational enterprise value. During her 18+ years as a senior executive with The Kraft Group and the New England Patriots, Robyn operated at the center of one of the most iconic organizations in sports during a period in which NFL revenues expanded from less than $1B to greater than $23B and the Patriots franchise grew to $9B+ valuation. Robyn led the New England Patriots through some of the organization's most defining moments, – from enterprise-wide operational restructuring and leadership transition to launching a broadcast-ready Super Bowl streaming studio and navigating some of the highest-profile and most notable periods in modern sports history. Earlier in her career, Robyn helped pioneer the music industry's digital transformation as Worldwide Vice President at EMI Recorded Music's New Media division, helping scale the business from $IM to $100M+ in profit while negotiating investments and partnerships that helped shape the early digital media ecosystem. Robyn also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Pro Athlete Community (PAC), further reflecting her deep connectivity across sports, business, culture, and athlete leadership communities. At Axum, Robyn will help deepen what makes us different: connectivity, access, cultural fluency, and hands-on business building that extends far beyond capital. As we continue engaging with current and prospective partners, additions like Robyn further strengthen the differentiated platform we are building for our LPs – combining disciplined investing with real operational insight, influence, and value creation. This is the Axum Edge - amplified. Welcome to the team, Robyn!

Tom Coburn liked thisTom Coburn liked thisBig day for the team. Hightouch just announced $150M in Series D funding at a $2.75B valuation, led by Goldman Sachs and Bain Capital Ventures (BCV). I've been in enough deals to know the pattern: marketers have the ideas, but never enough runway to execute. Good campaigns die in the queue. Great segmentation never gets built. Personalization stays a slide in a deck. That's the problem we're solving with the Agentic Marketing Platform, AI agents that handle the research, the creative, the build, and the optimization, so marketing teams can stop coordinating and start deciding. This round is fuel and we're just getting started. 🔥 → https://lnkd.in/gjgbvaAt

Every single pitch this year was excellent and every company already had meaningful traction in market - high Amazon conversion rates, multiple pilots in flight, validated efficacy by field experts, and more. Absolutely awesome stuff across the teams. To the 🥉Provenance, 🥈ChangeGuard, and 🥇Radar teams, congratulations! Credit as always to the Boston College Shea Center for Entrepreneurship team for putting together a fantastic event under the steady hand of Kelsey (Kinton) Renda! A privilege judging with you Emily Kaiser Christina Quinn and Scott E Carson!

Tom Coburn liked thisTom Coburn liked thisInvestment banks & PE firms run on Excel. Now they’re starting to run on Provenance. We’re officially being deployed on live deals. For the first time, teams can: → see exactly what changed and why in seconds → understand the impact instantly and catch mistakes early on → review and approve models in minutes without digging through Excel → go back to any decision with full firm-wide context → make AI agents smarter with complete financial context With Provenance, review cycles get cut in half and senior bankers finally have clarity before decisions. There has never been a system of record for financial decisions. Now, as AI agents start operating inside deal workflows, the need for one becomes unavoidable. Rolling this out to a few more firms this quarter. If you work at an investment bank or private equity firm and want to speed up your model review process & prevent mistakes, reach out for a pilot.

Fundraising? Nail Your “Use of Funds” Story Many founders fumble here: They raise $500k but can’t explain exactly how they’ll use it. Investors want to know: ✅ How much will go to growth? ✅ How much for product development? ✅ What milestones will this funding unlock? Your “use of funds” isn’t just a slide in your deck. It’s a reflection of your priorities and execution plan. Clarity here = confidence from investors. Before you pitch, ask yourself: “Can I explain exactly how every dollar raised will drive us forward?” Founders, how did you allocate your last funding round? Let’s learn from each other. #FinArchitect #InvestorReady #StartupFunding #FounderTips #VCInsights

Ready to elevate your fundraising game? Fundraising is not luck. It is a process. The best founders treat raising capital like a high-performing sales process. Clear targeting, disciplined outreach, and strong follow-through make the difference. It starts with building the right investor list. Focus on VCs who match your stage, sector, and check size before you ever send a deck. Want the step-by-step playbook? Read our latest VC Unfiltered article! We’re thrilled to share that Usul (YC S24) has raised $3.3M in Seed funding led by Scout Ventures with participation from BVVC, Teamworthy Ventures, True Ventures, Y Combinator and more. Usul is the modern platform for defense contract capture and federal growth. Our customers have won hundreds of millions in defense contracts for capabilities across Air, Land, Maritime, AI/ML and more. When Oliver Gomez, Joonghyun Lee and I joined forces during Stanford’s Hacking 4 Defense class, we interviewed 300+ defense companies to intimately understand how difficult it is for national security solutions to get deployed quickly at scale. In normal capital markets this is called dead weight loss. In warfighting, this costs lives. We're building an elite team of hackers and defense enthusiasts in San Francisco. If you’re interested in powering the next 1000 defense primes, email us at founders@usul.com or dm me. Read more about our journey in Erin O'Brien's Tectonic article below in the comments. Founders are often optimistic about growth. Sometimes, that confidence leads to funding ideas that don't fully pan out. Royalty-based growth capital is structured to limit downside risk compared to traditional venture-backed paths. Vik Thapar of Cypress Growth Capital explains that, even if outcomes fall short of early expectations, founders often still exit with meaningful results because they retain the majority of ownership. 🎙️ Tune into the Private Equity Value Creation Podcast: https://lnkd.in/gxkEsH3Z 👇🏽 Find Us Here https://lnkd.in/gTdPMk8P #privateequity #privateequitypodcast #privateequityvaluecreation
