Vy Nguyen shared thisVy Nguyen shared thisUpskilling and reskilling are extremely important topics, especially in the tech world where new frameworks and methodologies pop up every couple of years, and industry-breaking changes happen every half-decade. I do think there's something missing in the way many companies approach this - in my mind 2 crucial pieces are needed to make upskilling and reskilling actually useful for an enterprise investing in the growth of its employees: 1. Basic training in the new technology - this can take the form of online or team courses, certifications, etc. 2. Learning how the technology can apply to the business problem at hand. Many employers apply one, but not both of these things. This is actually one of the areas we tackle when Rackner trains companies and executives in Kubernetes. It's not just enough to learn the basics of the technology - there are some great $20 or $50 dollar online courses and tutorials that can do that. We emphasize that lasting change happens when training includes both basic knowledge and specific emphasis based on industry and problem set. Vy Nguyen liked thisVy Nguyen liked thisAs I walked the Harvard Yard and stage last week, it finally set in. It became a surreal moment, and I paused to let it fully sink in. I did it. Something the Lord gave me the vision for. A vision I knew was unattainable in my own strength. So I prayed. I asked Him for guidance, for wisdom, and challenged Him to provide the provision for a plan I didn’t fully understand. But I trusted that when I am weak, He is strong. He reminded me that with Christ at the center, anything is possible, even if it only starts with mustard seed faith. And if the vision feels bigger than you can imagine, that’s how you know God is at the center of it. So I dreamt big, prayed relentlessly, and moved in silence. I stayed quiet, not out of fear, but because the enemy can’t interrupt what he doesn’t hear. This was a season of stillness and surrender. My trust had to be fully dependent on Him. I had to be available. I had deadlines, diagnoses, and diapers, but God had a plan. I looked my wife in the eyes and said, "I think the Lord is telling me to go to Harvard." No safety net, No perfect timing, Just faith. They said, 🗣 “It’ll take 3 years,” 📣 God said, “You’ll finish in half.” They said, 🗣 “You’re working full-time. Take it slow,” 📣 God said, “Take four to five classes each semester. I’m your strength.” They said, 🗣 “That workload is unrealistic,” 📣 God said, “My grace is sufficient.” And then came the day that flipped our world... 👶 My wife found out she was pregnant, 💔 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, On the same day. They told me I had six months to live, God told me, “I’m the Chief Physician.” What was supposed to be a routine procedure turned into 14 hours, Two flatlines, two revivals, But God wrapped me in His wings and whispered, “I’m not through with you yet.” So I kept going, Kept writing, Kept believing, Kept showing up. But don’t get it twisted, this was not a solo mission. Let’s talk alignment. Next to Jesus, the most impactful decision I’ve ever made was choosing the right helpmate. My wife didn’t just witness the vision, she warred with me for it. She prayed while I studied, Taught our kids while I took exams, Spoke peace while I fought pain, Held me up when I didn’t have strength to stand. She is the CEO of our home, The professor in our homeschool, My counselor, intercessor, encourager, and accountability all in one. This Master’s degree is not just mine, it’s ours. It’s a reflection of what happens when purpose meets partnership, When calling meets covering, When faith meets alignment. This isn’t just a diploma, This is proof, Proof that grace still opens doors, Proof that legacy is built in obedience, Proof that God still honors “yes.” To every dreamer who feels the weight of the storm, let this remind you, You are not forgotten. I wanted to make a significant impact right away. I shifted my mindset from “I made it” to “Make an impact.” I didn’t want to fall into the trap of landing my dream job and relaxing. I knew I needed to do the little things early to stand out in such a vast organization. 🎯Network and build relationships early in the company. 🎯Volunteer to support others even while onboarding. 🎯Shadow other top performers to learn best practices. 🎯“Fail fast,” meaning proactively asking to run customer calls to get accustomed to Microsoft's way of doing business. Because I started fast, I was able to help transform processes and help others get a fast start. 🚨 Texas Cold Calling is Getting… Spicy 🌶️ Yesterday, I got not one but two voicemails from a prospect in Texas. The first was confused. The second? Let’s just say they had the energy of someone who thinks I’d just called out of the blue to sell them an extended car warranty. Turns out, they had submitted a form on our website — but being in Texas, they were extra aggressive about it. And here’s why: 👉 As of September 1, 2025, Texas has passed its own version of the TCPA (“Mini-TCPA”). It’s not just about robocalls anymore. Now: 📱 Cold calls, SMS, images, even video messages fall under the law 💵 Companies must register and pay a $200 fee 💰 You also have to post a $10,000 security deposit (yes, really) ⚖️ And if you mess up? Expect fines, lawsuits, and damages — starting at $500 a pop So, if you’re making outbound calls into Texas without checking the boxes, you’re basically running through a legal minefield in cowboy boots. 🥾💥 PSA to sales teams everywhere: Before you start dialing, make sure your compliance team knows about this. Because your next “wrong number” in Texas could cost you a whole lot more than an awkward voicemail.
