Startup Studios aren't incubators or accelerators or VC's... they are actually a mix of all of them. The Studio will take an idea, filter it through an incubation process to make sure it's worth moving forward with. If it makes it through, it moves through the first round of funding and team hiring phase. When it makes it through it goes into launch phase. If it makes it past the launch stage, it goes into accelerator phase which may come with another round of funding and a restructuring of executive leadership. The Studio is involved at each stage which is why they are called Studios as they see it through from ideation to exit, true company builders!

If your local startup ecosystem doesn't run its own capital as a fund, it's not a complete ecosystem. Internal capital is key for these to work because just making intros to local Angels who see 50 deals per month isn't a strategy. Do some work without internal capital? I'm sure they do, but are they as efficient as they could be? I doubt it...

A quick post on stablecoins. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just called for $3 trillion in stablecoin-driven demand for U.S. dollars and Treasuries by 2030. That would make the stablecoin market rival the Euro or Yen in less than a decade. The administration is signaling loud and clear: stablecoins are dollar infrastructure, not crypto gambling. Bessent's $3T projection is Washington saying the quiet part out loud as it is clear stablecoins are an organic strategic tool for dollar dominance. The data is already here. Prabhakar Reddy shared last week that his company OpenFX went from $20B to $34B in monthly cross-border institutional volume in just 30 days. 99% of their transactions settle in under 60 minutes. They've launched every major Latin American corridor, the Philippines, UAE, and Europe in a single year. Companies like ZAR are taking a more bottoms up consumer approach -- accelerating stablecoin adoption for citizens that live in countries with high inflation/unstable money, starting in Pakistan. In addition to the massive cross border use case, we think stablecoins can help solve some of the volatility issues facing many token-based applications and in the medium term can be used for domestic money movement - offering very competitive yields and putting the traditional role of the bank deposit at risk. While stablecoins are increasingly becoming the consensus ChatGPT moment for blockchains, they still feel under-appreciated. We are constantly looking to invest in markets that are large AND expanding. This is one of those markets. $3T feels conservative, we expect it will be much larger.
