PM Dr Abiy’s special focus to the manufacturing sector is a validation of the government’s commitment to the industry. Ethiopian Ministry of Industry(የኢፌዴሪ ኢንዱስትሪ ሚኒስቴር) As the president of our association, I had the distinct honor of representing #EthiopianFurnitureManufacturingIndustriesAssociation #EFMA to sign a new partnership with the Federal Public Procurement Services. #PSS This isn't just paperwork. It’s a massive win for every local carpenter, designer, and factory owner in our country. With the government being the biggest buyer in the room, this deal ensures that #MadeinEthiopia #EthiopiaTamirt isn't just a label. It’s the first choice. #EthiopiaTamirt2026 that we have already received expression of interest from government and the private sector. Thanks to the Ethiopian Ministry of Industry(የኢፌዴሪ ኢንዱስትሪ ሚኒስቴር) and our WARYT Team It is confusing for most to think our local products are locally manufactured. We have often been told to stop importing and start manufacturing when our products are indeed locally made. That’s an honour as it has a positive connotation. 😜 We are determined to show the world that #Ethiopia is the rising #manufacturinghubofAfrica. I know the global market feels volatile right now, and shipping from the Middle or Far East is becoming a headache for many. But here's the good news. Our doors are open, our quality is high, and we’re right here. With raw materials being locally produced it makes it worthwhile. With still few materials remaining to be imported as inputs even to the local raw material production, we are in a better position than previous years. Let’s skip the shipping delays and build something great together. Abel Mengistu liked thisAbel Mengistu liked thisA few days back , a young boy asked me, with so much innocence and determination: “ሰላም, when is #PrimeMinister Dr.Abiy coming to SIT? I really want to meet him… please make me talk to him when he comes to our grand opening.” I may not remember every word exactly—but I will never forget the passion behind it. Yesterday, I watched that same young boy stand with confidence, meet leaders and deliver a message about using our resources wisely and taking responsibility to change our country echoing a powerful poem from a book by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and making it his own... He presented his young and authentic voice to the #President of the #Oromia Region, Obbo Shimeles Abdisa a moment that once felt like a distant dream. That moment—seeing a young person’s request met, his voice heard, and his presence acknowledged—was a true proud “big sister” moment. Being part of making that opportunity real, and answering that simple but powerful request, is something deeply meaningful for me 🥹 But Nahom Desalegn wasn’t the only one. Ebba Waqshum Dhugasa (the right hand of me during the times we worked together) who also told me he wasn’t ready. I pushed him anyway. Because deep down, I knew he would deliver. And he did. Saron Fiseha , (she actually reminds me so much of myself) Always feeling unready, yet somehow always rising to the moment and getting it done instantly. Meseret—well-mannered, composed, and dependable. She says yes, and she delivers—every single time. None of them felt ready..it was a random request from me lol But I told them what I believe in deeply. “Give what you want to receive" also speak the words you want to hear. and Show up as the person you’re becoming.... አደለ የሚባለዉ ብቻ I told them I believe in them. I asked them to make me proud. And they didn’t just meet that—they exceeded it. This moment we witnessed is just a glimpse of a much bigger journey I share with these students. There are countless stories, quiet growth, unseen efforts, and small wins that don’t always make it to a stage—but matter just as much. And that’s why I will always stand by this: Put the #youth at the front—and watch how they #transform everything. What I saw yesterday is also a reflection of a shifting system one that is starting to listen, to trust and to create space for young voices. For that, I’m deeply grateful to the leadership that is choosing to invest in them and give them that platform. To Nahom, Ebba, Saron, Meseret—and all the young minds I have the privilege to walk this journey with .. I am so proud of you. When I first started, I was just incredibly proud to be employed by the best public service organization in the city. But 4 months later, it’s about so much more than the title, it’s about the profound impact on people’s lives. It’s the grandmother who gets her services sorted in minutes instead of days. It’s the entrepreneur who leaves our center ready to start their dream business. Most of all, it’s the look of pure relief on someone’s face when they realize the "old way" of doing things, the long queues and the endless back-and-forth is actually changing. I love hearing their stories of how things used to be, only to see how amazed they are when their task is finished in minutes right before their eyes. But as much as I’ve learned from our citizens, I’ve learned even more from the people sitting next to me. Behind every success story is a team that feels more like a family. To my incredible coworkers thank you for the mentorship, the shared coffee breaks, and the way we step up for each other when the center is busy. It’s the social gatherings and the genuine bonds we’ve built outside the office that make the hard work inside so rewarding. We don't just process services; we support each other’s growth, share a lot of laughs, and celebrate every win as one. Working at Addis Mesob isn't just about digital government; it’s about giving our city’s residents their time and dignity back and I couldn't ask for a better tribe to do it with. I’m so proud to be part of this mission. This doesn’t mean “don’t enter IT.” It means the easy path is gone. Before 2020, companies hired freshers to train. Now they hire only people who can ship from day one. That’s the root problem behind these numbers: Too many graduates Too few real-world-ready engineers Companies under cost pressure So freshers who only have a degree will struggle. Freshers with projects, GitHub, freelancing, and production-level skills will still get hired. The bar moved. It didn’t disappear. Adapt or get filtered out. 💯

🚨 The Reality of QA & Automation in Nepal’s IT Industry 🚨 We hear a lot about “QA” and “automation” in Nepal’s IT market. But is it truly being practiced—or just followed as a trend? 👉 Job descriptions demand 20+ skills, but only a handful are actually applied. 👉 QA is still treated as a final step, not a part of the development journey. 👉 Pay scales remain unfair—QA is undervalued compared to development roles. 👉 Automation is often adopted just to show it exists, not because it adds real value. Nepal’s IT sector is growing, yes. But without recognizing QA as an equally critical discipline, we risk building numbers—not quality.
