Blake Hill liked thisIt's a very bittersweet moment but it's time for me to announce my official departure from PerkSpot. These past ~4 years have been an absolute highlight of my career from the work that I was doing to the people who I got to work with. PerkSpot's mission of helping members save money so they can do more of what they love is one that resonates with me deeply. It may sound silly when you think about an employee discount program, but I vividly recall nights in high school where I stayed up to help clip coupons with my mom so that we could stretch her income a bit further that week. You have no idea how much a few extra dollars can mean to some families out there. I'm extremely grateful to PerkSpot for trusting me to help build out their partnerships program and even more grateful to my partners who placed even greater trust in me and our organization. That trust was something that was earned each and every day and it taught me more about managing reputations and work ethic than I could've possibly imagined when I first signed on for the role. Those lessons and learnings helped me grow substantially over the years and I'll carry them with me for the remainder of my career. An enormous thank you goes out to the exceptional team at PerkSpot, both past and present. There are so many of you who made tremendous impacts on me. To Blake Hill, Hamlet Salazar, and Jason Blais - thank you for trusting me to join this organization in the first place and for the amazing lessons in leadership that I've been given over the years. To Pete Ward, Chris Hill, Adam Perry, Hamlet Salazar, and Melanie Kernica - thank you for being and creating such a world-class, understanding, and approachable executive team. To Christine Jegers, Laura Jenero, and Mandee Schwartz - every company loves to say that they have the best service teams in their industry. The three of you have built such outstanding teams, processes, and cultures that I have had the privilege of being able to believe it was true for PerkSpot with every fiber of my being - which is an enormous testament to how exceptional each of you are. And last, but certainly not least, to Blake Hill and Katelyn Shaw - thank you for being a team that I was able to love like my own family. Blake, you have been hands-down the greatest leader I've ever had the honor of working with. So much of my skillset, confidence, work ethic can be attributed back to you and everything I learned while working with you. And Katelyn, in the time that you've been on this team with me I've been blown away - everyone at PerkSpot knows you're brilliant, but to see it firsthand has been something special. I had to leave before I started looking bad by comparison 😂 An announcement on my new opportunity will be coming soon. While it's bittersweet to depart a company whose people and mission meant so much to me, I'm extremely excited and optimistic for what the future holds!

The House just passed bipartisan legislation directing the SBA to help small businesses evaluate and adopt AI. For independent specialty retailers — owners who are experts in serving their communities but not always in cutting-edge tech — I think this is a great first step. AI can unlock productivity, customer insights, and operational resilience, but in my experience access, education, and practical support are still unevenly distributed. Big retailers have IT teams and consultants; small shops do not. What I’ve seen working with our ~20,000 customers is that the burden can’t just be on store owners to “figure it out.” Software providers serving SMBs need to meet these businesses where they are — building tools that are approachable, practical, and deeply tailored to the realities of each specialty industry. https://lnkd.in/emSQU5Pe #specialtyretail #quiltsoftware

Early career advancement is a momentum engine that compounds inequality inside firms. Promotions are strongly front-loaded early in a role, and prior promotion predicts future promotion, which is classic path dependence in internal labor markets. That means your biggest leverage is improving first-year growth signals for specific roles like SDRs, analysts, and junior engineers, rather than waiting for annual cycles. Workers at high-promotion firms face about a 6.2% chance of promotion in the next 12 months versus 2.8% at low-promotion firms, so are you tracking “time-in-role to first promotion” as a core KPI? https://lnkd.in/eaHB2G9F

Why are most Digital Product Creation (DPC) initiatives underdelivering? Because the foundation underneath them is broken. Teams can't find the assets they need. They recreate things that already exist. Institutional knowledge walks out the door with every reorg. The promise of faster time to market, sustainability gains, and improved margins stays just out of reach. The missing piece is Digital Asset Management (DAM). And based on what we're seeing, a majority of organizations doing DPC aren't using it. That's about to change. My prediction: within three years, 100% of the leading apparel and footwear brands will have DAM powering their product creation operations, and it will be part of what makes them leaders.
