Bryan Hood liked thisBryan Hood liked thisLife…a precious gift. Over the past week, I’ve been surrounded with feedback. Some of it has been easy to hear, some has been incredibly difficult. I’m reminded of a person that once said to me “feedback, in all forms, is a gift”. I’ve kept this in mind as I’ve processed what’s been easy and what’s been hard to hear. I can have a tendency to hear critical feedback as “something is wrong with you, Nickie, be a better person.” I haven’t done that this week and it feels good. There’s nothing wrong with me and nothing about me to fix. For the first time in my life, I feel this as a truth in my whole body. I have so much to learn and I love learning it all. I’m so grateful for the love I’ve received in all the ways this week - the love that’s hard to hear and the love that fills me with joy. Time to sit back, relax, and let myself enjoy a weekend day to the fullest for once!

Bryan Hood liked thisBryan Hood liked thisI had the opportunity to hear from Jeff Bezner, Co-founder and COO of Turtlebox Audio, twice in one day (how lucky am I!) First discussing partnerships in my Practical Issues in Entrepreneurship class with Ryan Boyle, MS, and later during a Fireside Chat on product-market fit hosted by the Entrepreneurial Leadership Association, a student organization I’m grateful to be a part of while pursuing my Master’s at Texas A&M University. Across both, what stood out most was how candid and humble Jeff was. No over-polished answers, just real insight from someone who pulled up a chair and turned a speaking engagement into a conversation. He is the kind of speaker that makes you want to lean in, ask questions, and stay engaged. A few ideas that stuck with me: • You never really stop thinking about the business. It follows you in a way that's hard to explain until you’re in it • There is a real inflection point when you make the jump to full time • Their approach to market segmentation while continuing to serve their original audience was especially interesting. Growth without abandoning your foundation Grateful for the opportunity to learn from operators who are actually in it. Huge thank you to Cole Roberts for leading a thoughtful Fireside Chat, and to Victor Ortiz Jr. for putting it all together. And thank you to Jeff for taking the time to share openly and for being so intentional about connecting with us. P.S. Never too late to open up that raffle again!

Bryan Hood liked thisBryan Hood liked thisI had so much fun talking with Samantha Livingstone on the Real Talk for Sport Parents podcast. We covered a lot — growing up as a competitive twin in Texas, how my husband and I try to keep sports fun for our three kids, and the moment at a 107-degree football game that changed everything for me. That day in the stands led me to start HeatSense. But this conversation wasn't really about the company — it was about sports parenting, competition, and what we actually want for our kids. Samantha asks great questions and made it easy to get real. If you're a sports parent trying to find balance in a win-at-all-costs culture, I think you'll connect with this one. https://lnkd.in/gEmtfsfhWhen the Heat Rises: Keeping Kids Safe in a Win-At-All-Costs CultureWhen the Heat Rises: Keeping Kids Safe in a Win-At-All-Costs Culture

Bryan Hood liked thisBryan Hood liked thisAnother busy week in the books before this holiday weekend -- here's what I was seeing this week in Austin retail real estate: 1) The business environment of Texas continues to be a major draw for tenants when they look at expansion. Multiple tenants this week remarked that Texas was on their agenda as the business environments elsewhere had made it too difficult to operate. Austin in particular combines the favorability of Texas business laws with an environment that, socially and politically, is more familiar to those from the coasts, making it an attractive location for expansion. 2) Although Austin continues to be very much in demand for retail, Austin does struggle with some negatives when compared to other Texas metros. Multiple tenants have told me that construction pricing in Austin tends to be 10-15% higher here than in Houston and Dallas. Various reasons are behind this, but our relatively small subcontractor base seems to be a main reason that I hear cited over and over. 3) Finally, I'm glad to see in Austin that our landlords are continuing to be more and more creative when they are looking at deals. From my vantage point, landlords seem to be understanding that they need to be active in understanding their buildings and help tenants out with front end work and also doing deals with structures that make sense. I've seen this change over the last few months and it's heartening to see. I wish all of you a good holiday weekend. Until next week, John

“Our average rep hits 50% of quota.” Oof. That's not a rep problem. It's a process problem. If your SaaS sales team's performance is consistently unpredictable, you’re missing real gaps in your ops. Reps manually scoring leads in outdated CRMs. No automation for routing or segmentation. Etc. AI can help, but before you add it to the mix, you need to define 4 things for every sales process: ⭕ Who is responsible for the process ⭕ What tools are used to execute, track, and facilitate the process ⭕ The value the process brings to the organization ⭕ The cost of the process Analyze these details and you can to identify gaps that AI can help close. Performance doesn’t break at the report. It breaks in the workflow. Fix the gaps first. Then AI can do what it’s supposed to: make the system even smarter. ➕ Follow for more insights on using AI in your SaaS ops.

Most AEs spend their days reacting. To leads. To timing. To whatever hits their inbox next. But top performers don’t just react — they *engineer control.* They protect their time. They prepare with intent. They measure what matters. And they stay on the line. Sales Caddy gives you the guardrails to make that discipline repeatable — prompts that drive action, data that reinforces habits, and clarity that compounds. Because revenue doesn’t reward effort. It rewards control. #sales #b2b #revenue #salesleadership #ai #salescaddy #revops #salesprocess #salesperformance #accountexecutive

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐃𝐑𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 Most SDR conversations fail for one reason. They are optimized to push, not to understand. When reps lead with scripts, pitches, and premature value props, they miss the most important signal in the room. Buyer intent. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 Clearer problem definition. Better qualification. Stronger handoffs to sales. Listening reveals timing, urgency, and internal dynamics that no talk track can surface. It turns discovery into insight, not interrogation. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 High-performing SDRs do not aim to impress. They aim to learn. They ask fewer questions, pause longer, and let buyers fill the silence. That is where real opportunity shows up. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 If your SDR team is measured only on activity, they will keep talking. If they are measured on insight quality, they will start listening. #marketwavegen #SalesDevelopment #B2BSales #RevenueStrategy

The three questions I am most asked by people in enterprise sales are: 1. How do I find, identify, and hire high-performing sales pros?; 2. How do I overcome price objections?; and 3. How do I compete against a “do nothing” decision? I have thought a lot about the first question and came up with 30 traits that I look for that are included in my AWARD WINNING first book "Above Quota Performance." https://lnkd.in/gQsJbPwS. In the article attached, I focus on the first 15. I enjoy reading and responding to your comments and suggestions.

Most sales problems aren’t strategy problems. They’re execution problems. Teams don’t struggle because they don’t know what to do. They struggle because doing it consistently is hard. The gap between average and top performance is rarely knowledge. It’s discipline. The reps who win do the boring things well: • Daily repetition • Tight fundamentals • Clear follow-through • Honest self-review Execution isn’t flashy — but it compounds faster than anything else.

Hitting quota isn’t just about working harder. It’s about removing friction from your pipeline. Many sales teams still struggle with: • Manual prospecting • Inefficient pipelines • Deals getting lost in the shuffle That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a systems problem. With AI powered lead capture, predictive deal scoring, and accelerated demo booking, teams can focus on what actually drives revenue, meaningful conversations and closing. The future of sales performance is intelligent automation, not more manual effort. If your team is aiming to crush quota this quarter, it might be time to rethink the workflow.
