Jay Reno shared thisStoked for the S2 team! Proud to be an early investor.Jay Reno shared thisToday we are announcing general availability of the s2.dev cloud service, and our $3.85M seed round led by Accel, with participation from Y Combinator and other investors. Our customers are building AI products that need real-time, durable streams — token streaming, agent sessions, live observability. They're creating millions of streams and pushing terabytes of data each week. S2 makes that as simple as object storage. GA reflects our confidence in the maturity and reliability of the service, after 14 months of iteration since initial launch. We are delighted to have brought on partners for the journey who see the promise of our vision to make streams a cloud storage primitive. More in our blog post.

Jay Reno reposted thisJay Reno reposted thisToday, we’re excited to share that Multifactor has raised a $15M seed round led by Nexus Venture Partners. We founded this company with a simple belief: identity should be your strongest defense, not your biggest vulnerability. As AI agents become part of everyday workflows, the world needs a new foundation of security that doesn’t rely on passwords, trust assumptions, or fragile legacy tools. Our mission is to redefine zero-trust for the agentic era through provably secure, post-quantum cryptography, and this new funding will help accelerate our growth. Check out the blog post to read more about our plans, and give Multifactor’s account manager a try if you haven’t already! https://lnkd.in/gDPZACQB

Jay Reno reposted thisJay Reno reposted thisAnnouncing Nozomio's $6.2M round, led by CRV, BoxGroup, and LocalGlobe. I started Nozomio in high school six months ago as an AI agent for codebases that could cross-reference multiple repos, answer questions, and help developers onboard themselves. I failed. But I knew there was something in the agent space that every developer wants: the right context. Right before my Y Combinator batch, I was struggling to give coding agents the right context. They missed versions, filled up the context window, and used incorrect frameworks. That is when I built the first iteration of Nia, which is now an augmentation layer for AI agents. Context is the most important problem in the agent space. It prevents AI systems from achieving superhuman code intelligence, and I want to solve it. The current state of Nia might change a thousand times, but the problem will stay the same. Even as an MCP, which is very novel and underdeveloped, Nia has already improved every coding agent by at least 30%. I am on the mission to 100x it. This round was led by CRV, BoxGroup, and LocalGlobe, with participation from Y Combinator and 20VC Product. I am also backed by world-class angel investors, including: - Paul Graham (Founder of Y Combinator) - Joshua Schachter, Founder of del.icio.us (acq. by Yahoo) and Tasty Labs (acq. by Walmart) - Gustav Söderström (Co-President, CTO at Spotify) - Thomas Wolf (Co-founder of Hugging Face) - Richard Aberman (Founder of WePay (YC S09) and former YC Visiting Partner) - Michael Fertik (Founder of Reputation, Modelcode AI, Heroic VC) - Tomer Cohen (CPO at LinkedIn) - Jack Brody (CPO at Suno) - Geoff Charles (CPO at Ramp) - Sabrina Hahn - Kulveer Taggar, Founder of Zeus (YC S11) and Auctomatic (YC W07) - Chris Howard (Ritual Capital) Nozomio is also backed by people associated with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Databricks, Airbnb, and Microsoft. I am hiring. I am solo right now and will stay under 20 employees until IPO. Apply if you are crazy enough. https://lnkd.in/e3wHCrXR

Jay Reno shared thisIt’s been astonishing to see how quickly Novig has grown. That’s what you get when you combine the best elements of Kalshi and DraftKings. Proud to be an early backer of Novig, the fastest growing prediction market in the US 🚀Jay Reno shared thisI'm thrilled to share that Novig — America’s #1 sports prediction market — has raised an $18 million Series A led by Forerunner, with participation from Y Combinator, NFX, Perceptive Ventures, and Gaingels. We’re honored to have the support of so many of the world’s leading tech investors, who believe in our mission to democratize sports prediction for good. Our vision is clear: to reshape the sports prediction landscape that has long favored exploitation over innovation, and to usher in an era of integrity, transparency, and empowerment. Together, we’re rewriting the rules and putting the power back in the hands of every sports fan in America. Jay Reno shared thisStoked to be backing Filip Kozera, Robert Chandler and the entire Wordware (YC S24) team as they make building with AI more accessible for all. Time for the real fun to begin!Jay Reno shared thistoday marks a very special moment - I'm beyond excited to announce 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲'𝘀 $𝟯𝟬𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 led by Spark Capital (followed by Felicis & Y Combinator) for decades, coding was the only way to create in our digital world. but AI is changing everything - it thinks in beautiful shades of grey, not just 1s and 0s. with this shift, we saw an opportunity to reimagine who gets to build. there are 30 million software engineers worldwide, but we've always believed that creativity isn't limited to those who can code. wordware is for the next 500m builders - the dreamers, experts, and innovators who've been waiting for their moment to create AI Agents (check out the video for our definition of what that means 😂) it's been quite a journey to get here. 3 years full-time with my brilliant cofounder (Robert Chandler), a decade in the AI space, countless failed experiments with transformers, major pivots, sleepless nights, and 100-hour weeks that tested everything we believed in. but today, I want to pause and celebrate what our incredible team has achieved: - 350k builders bringing their AI visions to life - 10 million people running agents built with wordware - amazing clients like instacart, runway & metadata - breaking Product Hunt's servers (sorry, not sorry!) - raising one of the largest seeds (if not the largest) out of Y Combinator we still have mountains to climb, but watching our community build things we never imagined possible... that's what keeps us going. what makes wordware different? we've turned English into a programming language for AI. no coding bootcamp required - if you can express ideas clearly, you can build sophisticated AI solutions. our take on reimagining the development stack as a full-stack os for building AI: - unified notion like IDE - built-in tools for rag, speech-to-text, image gen, data analysis, scraping & more - proper engineering concepts for power users (loops, conditionals, function calls, code execution, version control) - open source community: fork, share & customize AI solutions 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗣𝗜 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 to our incredible team who made this possible - thank you to the believers who backed us (Nabeel Hyatt, Paul Graham, Astasia Myers Vlad Magdalin, Nicolas Dessaigne, Azeem Azhar, Ben Parr, Matt Schlicht, Ben Tossell, Siqi Chen, Mathilde Collin, Kulveer Taggar, Soleio, Dan Westgarth, Bartek Pucek, Tomasz Karwatka, Piotr Karwatka & many more) - thank you thinking about that AI workflow, product feature, or full-fledged AI company? let's chat: https://www.wordware.ai/ ps: we're hiring across all roles! join us in rebuilding how humans create with ai: https://lnkd.in/d-8giWyA

Jay Reno shared this🎉 Big announcement! I'm super excited to share the launch of Pointhound! 🚀 Pointhound.com helps you find and book free flights, for free, to amazing destinations using your credit card points and miles 🛫🏝️ 💳 Each year, credit card companies issue $100B worth of rewards to 120M Americans, but only a fraction of those are ever redeemed. And those that are are redeemed for poor value (think cash back, statement credit, gift cards, etc). Travel on the other hand is unmistakably the best way to use your points -- and we're here to help you make the most of them. Today we're excited to be launching our flagship tools: 1) A 'Google Flights for points' search engine to help you find and book amazing flight deals with points across 150+ airlines 🛫🏝️ 2) A credit card recommendation engine to get the right cards and maximize the points you earn on everyday purchases 💳 Our mission is to make travel more accessible. Travel plays a critical role in helping us experience the way others live. And our belief is that seeing and feeling how people live *firsthand* leads to greater empathy, greater compassion and a greater appreciation of our collective humanity. Our talented team is made up of a group of ex-Feathers Jake Malone, Sam Clark and Jeffrey Flynn. We went through the Y Combinator S23 batch and were so fortunate to work closely with and learn from Garry Tan, Harj Taggar, Richard Aberman, and Surbhi Sarna. Enjoy v1 of our site (linked below) and let us know what you think in the comments. Happy (free) flying! https://pointhound.com ☀️

Jay Reno shared thisIt’s been a long time coming. I’m proud and excited to share that Feather, the company I founded and built with an absolutely exceptional team since 2017, has joined forces with Vesta and Fernish to create Showroom! Big thanks to Joan Verdon @Forbes for covering the news. Though I won’t be sticking around in a full-time capacity, many folks are, and I’m so grateful to all current and past Feathers, friends and investors who believed in our mission to transform humanity’s relationship with material goods for a happier and healthier planet. We kicked off this change in the furniture industry some 7 years ago and I have no doubt will be brought home by Julian Buckner from Vesta, Michael L. Barlow from Fernish, and the combined forces of our companies. As for me, I’ve been building an exciting new company in the travel space with a few ex-Feathers and will be sharing more about it very, very soon — stay tuned :) https://lnkd.in/gdBbynisLuxury Home Staging Firm Vesta Acquires Two Furniture Rental StartupsLuxury Home Staging Firm Vesta Acquires Two Furniture Rental Startups

Jay Reno shared this🎉Two wild and crazy pieces of news to share with y'all: Feather was acquired and I've started a new company! What, all in one post!? Yep. Feather's acquisition: while I can't share all the details just yet, this has been in the works for a long time. We were acquired in 2022 and have been focused on integrating with our new partners before making a big announcement. There will be a longer post and PR coming, but for now, I'm excited to finally share the close of a wonderful chapter and the start of a new one. It's been a wild ride, and I'm infinitely grateful to the absolutely stellar, one-of-a-kind Feather team and our investors and partners. More to come. New company: As I transitioned out of my role as CEO post acquisition, I realized I wasn't done building. A few folks from Feather and I have teamed up to build a new company, currently in stealth. It's in the travel space, and I'm excited to share that we've been invited back to go through Y Combinator for our second time! 🤙 Plenty more to come on both very soon -- stay tuned!

Jay Reno liked thisJay Reno liked thisEarlier this week, we announced we had surpassed $2M in annualized revenue and 250 clients. Today we have two more exciting updates to share: 1) General Legal (YC26) is expanding horizontally - we now cover all three core areas of start-up legal work: employment, corporate and commercial. 2) We are the first law firm that we know of to put out a detailed, granular pricing menu online, for the world to see: https://lnkd.in/eAd7Z2NY If a BigLaw firm quotes you a lower price for a service on our menu, bring it to us, and we will beat it by 50%. It's time for law firms to act like they're in the service industry, and we plan to lead the way.

Jay Reno liked this3.5 years ago, I joined MiddleGround Capital as Head of our Amsterdam office. Since then, my teammates and I have built an amazing team with a lot of conviction about what European industrial businesses could become with the right partner. Today, I am proud to share that I have been promoted to Partner. Building something from scratch in a new market is exciting and humbling. You learn quickly that building a capable team and meaningful relationships takes time, and that trust is earned deal by deal. Our EU platform investments reflect what that work looks like in practice. There is a lot more ahead, and the foundation we’ve built positions us well for what comes next in Europe. I am grateful to our MiddleGround leaders for their support and the opportunity to keep building our presence in Europe.Jay Reno liked thisCongratulations to Alexander van der Have, who has been promoted to Partner! Since joining MiddleGround in November 2022, Alex has led our European office with a clear mandate: establish our investment presence in Europe, build a local team, develop local relationships, and bring our operational approach to a new market. Over the past few years, he has been instrumental in sourcing and executing four platform investments and three add-on investments that reflect our industrial focus across the region. Platforms include: ➡️ Xtrac Ltd, a UK-based manufacturer of high-performance transmissions for motorsports and aerospace ➡️ IT8, a Spain-based industrial automation engineering firm ➡️ Helix, a UK-based manufacturer of electric drive systems serving the motorsports, marine, and aerospace sectors ➡️ STEMMER IMAGING, a Germany-based machine vision solutions provider Alex brings sharp investment judgment and a deep commitment to our hands-on approach, and he has built a fully staffed EU team that reflects that operational DNA. Jay Reno liked thisJay Reno liked thiswe haven't slept in 3 days. in a we genuinely couldn't stop way. we have 10+ experiments running right now. some of them are small. some of them are the kind of bet where you look back at this exact moment and either say "that's where it clicked" or "that's where we brutally failed." we're a tiny team. no safety net. just people who believe we're building something that has never existed before. i don't know how this ends. but i know we are doing the most ALIVE thing i have ever done in my life. and the video below is from those three days.

Jay Reno liked thisJay Reno liked thisI'm thrilled to announce that I will be joining the Board of Mobility Global Inc. ("Mobility Global") following its planned separation from S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) into an independent, public company by mid-2026. Mobility Global is the world's standard for mobility intelligence, providing critical data and analytics across the full vehicle lifecycle, and the company behind brands including CARFAX, Polk, and automotiveMastermind Inc. After years of consistent growth as part of S&P Global, Mobility Global will begin a new chapter later this year as an independent, public company focused entirely on the global automotive ecosystem. Spending the last decade at Lightspeed alongside businesses like Faire, Vinted, Whatnot, and Zola taught me a lot about how network effects and data compound into durable competitive advantage. When I joined the board of United Rentals (NYSE: URI) earlier this year, I was struck by how many of those same dynamics apply in the physical economy, translated in this case into the world of construction and industrial equipment rental. Mobility Global brings similar network effects and proprietary data to drive better outcomes and decisions across the automotive industry—from manufacturers and suppliers to dealerships and service centers. I'm excited to work alongside Bill Eager, CEO of Mobility Global and a 25-year veteran of the automotive intelligence industry, and an incredible group of fellow board members, including Joe Hinrichs (former CEO of CSX), Eric Aboaf (CFO of S&P Global), Heather Lavallee (CEO of Voya Financial), Monique Leroux (former CEO of Dejardins Group), Mark Peek (former CFO of Workday), and Shilpa Ranganathan (CPO at Expedia Group), as we help guide the company through this important next chapter. Jay Reno liked thisJay Reno liked thisBack in NYC for the first time in 10 years 🍎 Moderated the judges’ deliberation at The Pitch by J.P. Morgan - after sitting through 84 live, 2-minute startup pitches 🎤 A few takeaways: – Clarity beats buzzwords. Every time. – Conviction > energy. – Most founders over-index on the product, and under-index on why now. – If you can’t sell it in 2 minutes, you probably can’t sell it at all. It also took me back to the early Deel days. You’re constantly pitching: customers, candidates, partners, investors. Again and again… and again. It can get lonely. Rejection stacks up. But you refine. You adjust. You keep going. The funny part? The deliberation room was intense 😅 What one judge loved, another completely passed on. A good reminder: don’t take rejection personally. At the end of the day, investors aren’t trying to understand everything in 2 minutes. They’re asking themselves one thing: “Do I want another meeting with this founder?”

I’m thrilled to officially announce our $3M seed investment in Propel People, a company we built inside the 1848 Ventures studio to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing the #construction industry today: the skilled #labor shortage. For small and medium-sized contractors, hiring isn't just a challenge. It's the number one threat to their growth, profitability, and safety. With 94% of contractors struggling to find qualified workers, it’s clear that traditional hiring methods aren't built for the trades. That’s why we built Propel People. It’s a mobile-first, AI-powered hiring platform designed for how construction actually works: in the field. By leveraging smart candidate ranking, instant #SMS-based screening, and a fully #bilingual interface, Propel helps contractors build great crews faster and more efficiently. I’m also thrilled to formally announce that industry veteran Dexter Bachelder is at the helm as CEO. Having worked with Dexter and the team over the last few months, we've already seen the impact of his leadership. His 25 years of experience scaling construction tech companies will be instrumental as Propel People enters this initial stage of growth. This investment reinforces our core thesis at 1848 Ventures: building AI-native companies that solve fundamental pain points for the #SMBs that form the backbone of our economy. A huge congratulations to Dexter and the entire Propel People team on this milestone. We are incredibly proud to partner with you to support the people who build our world. Don't Build a Better Wheat Farm" - Why Defensibility Stakes Are Higher in Deep Tech Just published a new piece on my "Ignore the Confusion" blog, building on thoughtful insights from Eric Ver Ploeg at Tunitas Ventures about startup defensibility. Eric's core thesis: Too many startups pitch like wheat farmers - "huge TAM, slow incumbents, growing market, domain expertise" - but fail to think through long-term defensibility until it's too late. From a deep tech perspective, the stakes are even higher: ** Unlike software, deep tech founders must commit to defensibility strategies from day one - their funding depends on it ** Patent vs. trade secret decisions are often difficult to reverse and shape your entire competitive strategy ** Even "picks and shovels" providers (the tools that make industries more efficient) become commodities without proper moats The key insight that resonates: Defensibility can't be retrofitted. Whether you're building software or deep tech, your moat must be architected into the business model from the start. Thanks to Eric Ver Ploeg for sharing these insights on startup strategy and letting me build on his framework from a deep tech lens. Thrilled to share the launch of Criticality, a $65M fund built to back founders solving hard, high-leverage problems at the intersection of technical complexity and real-world urgency. Criticality builds on the foundation we’ve laid at Antler - applying our conviction-driven approach to companies at Seed & Series A. The fund is sector-flexible but applies a deep tech lens to each opportunity, targeting non-obvious, high-leverage problems from the earliest stages of company formation. Grateful to the New Mexico State Investment Council for their support in anchoring Criticality. More to come soon from Cash Allred & I.

I spoke with Christien Louviere of BDE Capital about his journey from a $330mm exit to becoming an independent sponsor. Christien shared excellent insights for folks looking to partner with business owners, rather than buy sellers out completely. Below are a few of the topics we covered: - Why he moved from “zero-to-one” startups to a buy-then-build strategy - How Christien's background shaped a focus on growth vs. cost-cutting - Why 20–40% rolled equity is central to his deal structures—and how it builds trust with sellers - Using scenario analysis with AI tools to evaluate management teams and uncover hidden key-person risks - How to identify when a $3–5M EBITDA company truly has a middle management layer—or is still founder-reliant For anyone investing in or buying small businesses, Christien’s approach provides a fresh lens on growth, alignment, and deal structuring. 🎥 Watch the full interview here → https://lnkd.in/ekfkaiej 🎧 Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/e86Agx6V
