Peak InfoSec is not and can support companies that want to get assessed this year. Letters coming from the primes, like L3Harris Technologies, are creating a lot of pressure on the ecosystem with certification mandates as early as July 2026. Most are pushing towards November 2026 as the target date for their supply chain to be CMMC compliant. As a result, November 2026 is becoming a favorite requested window that we are seeing. At Peak InfoSec, we follow a two-week block pattern for your assessment. The first week (Week 1), is when we conduct your organization's in brief and then begin examination and assessment of your evidence. Week 2 is is when we conduct interviews for clarifications on your artifacts and tests to validate what we examined and spoke with your staff about is actually occurring. Jerry Leishman reposted thisLast week, I had the privilege of co-facilitating the CS5 West CMMC Conference Executive Leadership Summit in San Diego — a room full of leaders from across the Defense Industrial Base who came ready to have the real conversations. Alongside Ben Tchoubineh from LEXX and Kevin Allison from CMMC Advisors, Inc, we spent the day breaking down what's actually happening with CMMC enforcement, why it demands executive-level attention, and how organizations can turn compliance into a competitive edge. We combined that with a prime contractor panel surfacing the real subcontractor challenges — and a CMMC vendor panel sharing ground-level experiences with defense suppliers. A few things that stood out: 🔴 The DIB is not ready. CMMC is a heavy lift — and an estimated 30–40% of companies may exit the defense industry base rather than achieve certification. That’s not a footnote. That’s a market shift. 📌 CMMC is not an IT project. It’s a strategic business decision — and the companies treating it as one are already pulling ahead. 🔗 The supply chain problem is real and largely unsolved. Brett Cox from Boeing put it plainly: the challenge isn’t willingness, it’s readiness and capacity. Accountability has to be built in at the leadership level — it can’t just be flowed down and forgotten. ⏱️ The urgency is bigger than CMMC. Katie Arrington, former DoD CIO and current CIO of IonQ, delivered a keynote I won’t forget. She connected the dots between CMMC, quantum computing, and Q-Day — and made clear that protecting the DIB is an active national security mission with a clock on it. Attendees left with clearer frameworks for budgeting, risk, and execution — and more importantly, with the mindset shift that turns compliance from a burden into a business advantage. Jerry Leishman liked thisThe old adage “The wheels of justice are slow, but fine” rings true again. The HAFNIUM attack came on the heels of SolarWinds in late February/ early March 2021. Responders were already tired. I was leading the front lines of Microsoft’s legal response and I remember this incident vividly. The USG was actively involved in the response, and we were trying to help people who hadn’t patched, or stopped patching years ago. (Ultimately, 23 retrograde patches was the answer at the time). It was an all hands on deck response, what I loved most about working with the MSRC, MSTIC, and DART is that nobody ever thought twice about that. All out until all done. They have my respect forever for that. So glad to see Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stayed on the case and continued to do what they do best. Congratulations to the team, Brett Leatherman! That’s a lot to celebrate, and a lot of hard work to get there!Jerry Leishman liked thisYesterday the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and U.S. Department of Justice announced the extradition of Xu Zewei from Italy, a prolific contract hacker alleged to have worked on behalf of China's Ministry of State Security. Xu is charged with participating in the HAFNIUM intrusion campaign, which compromised thousands of U.S. organizations through vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server. Earlier, in 2020, Xu and his co-conspirators are alleged to have targeted U.S. universities, immunologists, and virologists conducting COVID-19 research, also at the direction of officers from China's Shanghai State Security Bureau. This case is a reminder that the contractors the People's Republic of China relies on to obscure its hand in cyber operations are not beyond reach. When like-minded countries act together, accountability follows. The FBI is grateful to our Italian law enforcement colleagues, especially the Polizia Postale, whose partnership was critical to Xu's arrest and extradition.
