Anthony Rodriguez reacted on thisAnthony Rodriguez reacted on thisI built a 3D printer in Fusion this week without ever touching a mouse. I'm a sales guy. I run global Fusion sales at Autodesk. I'm not a designer or an engineer. A few weeks ago, Autodesk released a Fusion MCP server. MCP is an open protocol, so any LLM or agent that supports it can drive Fusion. This week, Anthropic shipped a Claude connector built on top of it. Others will follow. I started with the new connector, then switched to Claude Code pointed at our MCP server so I could keep working without tying up my desktop. Both worked. I prompted Claude to build me a Voron 2.4 350mm (the open source 3D printer project). Frame, gantry, toolhead, electronics, wiring, the clover logo on the back panel. Around 200 bodies across 13 components, all driven by Claude calling Fusion's API. Then I asked Autodesk Assistant inside Fusion to generate a 3D L-system plant. Branched recursive geometry I couldn't have modeled by hand. Is the Voron perfect? No. Plenty wrong if you look closely. Early days. I ran these in the background between meetings. But here's what's exciting: this empowers everyone. Engineers and designers will go faster and try ideas that weren't worth the time before. Non-designers like me can suddenly participate. And nobody fully sees yet what people will build once this becomes second nature. We are just getting started. Three ways to drive Fusion with AI today: → Claude Desktop or Cowork, using Anthropic's new Fusion connector → Claude Code or any MCP-capable LLM, using our Fusion MCP server → Autodesk Assistant, built directly into Fusion All real. It was clear to my friends and colleagues who watched me labor in pain that I needed to do something. I finally did - double total knee replacement surgery. This past weekend, my daughter Juliana and I both accomplished personal milestones. Juliana set her goal to run a marathon before graduating high school. I told her if she does, then I'd (try to) do the half thinking it would be a walk+run effort. Juliana crushed her first marathon in four hours. Next goal for her is qualifying and running the Boston before graduating college. For me, I blew away my wildest expectations, beating my stretch goal by 7 minutes and completing the half marathon in just over 2 hours and 30 minutes (2:33). So thankful for having Juliana inspire me and help me accomplish something I hadn't done in 25 years. Her determination and discipline helped me reshape my own. Post surgery bucket list accomplished. Onto the next one!

Accreditation comes up in a lot of conversations I have with engineering faculty. The goals behind it are important, but documenting student outcomes, tracking continuous improvement, and pulling everything together for a review cycle can quickly become a massive project. I wrote this blog to share how Onshape by PTC can support ABET student outcomes while making it easier to gather evidence along the way, so continuous improvement is less about scrambling for documentation and more about what’s actually happening in the classroom.
