Kevin Nix shared thisOk consumers - buckle in - let me tell you a tale of CRM/customer service gone terribly, terribly wrong.... So I have the Disney/Hulu/ESPN buncle - have had it for years. It's always been bulletproof. Today we decide to start from the beginning and watch The Bear on Hulu to get ready for the recent season. Try to login to Hulu - it thinks we don't have a Hulu account. I check my Disney account and it shows an active bundle. I go to help.hulu.com. I get a chatbot...I'm fine with that I explain the problem, I can login in and see Hulu on my Disney profile, I have no problem logging into Disney+ but I can't access Hulu, it just shows offers when I LOG IN! So I can LOG IN. Chatbot says, it will route me to a live technician. However...it's going to cost me $5 but hey, if you are a Hulu customer it's fully refundable. I don't like it but it's $5 and refundable okay. It gives me a PayPal option so I click okay. I'm now routed to Just Answers without my knowledge and I'm charged $53 - yes $53 for a YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION to JustAnswers. The technician whom I spoke to live did a lousy job of trying to provide the solution and then dropped. I get a text survey from Just Answers where I give 1's (if I could give -10s I would have and put in the comments CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION. (I also sent an email to their info.justanswers email to request the same.) Ironically my bundle subscription expires in 2 WEEKS. So, I'm like, I'm cancelling my bundle today. I google how to do this - pretty simple from the DisneyPlus account. I log back in and as I'm scrolling down, and I mean really down the page, there is an ACTIVATE your Hulu account. I click on it and voila, Hulu magically works. Those reading are going to ask me - are you going to cancel my subscription? No because I like the context value but it's ironic I probably should have gotten the correct answer right away vs. top 10 worst customer service experiences I've ever had AND I get to chase down with my time the $53 refund. Lessons learned - their side, this should have been a simple chatbox fix, "go to your DisneyPlus account and scroll down to the Activate Hulu and click". 2nd their side lesson, I HAVE a Hulu login - don't charge me $5 for your bad UI - 3rd, tell me you're going to transfer me to Just Answers, our "expert tech service partner" (I marketing spun it for them - no charge) My lesson learned - I'm going to Google before any 1st party support. And now....The Bear... #Huluepicfail #Disneyepicfail FYI - I didn't add the inserted help.hulu.com - it auto inserted which is sort of laughable.

Kevin Nix liked thisCalifornia friends - I generally don’t post about politics. But I’m going to make an exception because I opened my voter guide today to see none other than John Pimentel !! I have known John since 1992 and it gives me great hope, and no small measure of pride, to see him on the ballot. For those of you who don’t know him, I would say simply that I know John to be highly motivated by the issues and not by the politics of the moment, left or right. (And IMO it’s exactly what we need right now in California.) I hope you will give him your consideration. He is worthy of your vote. John P we’re pulling for you!!

It was great to hear firsthand how institutions are approaching identity challenges across decentralized environments. Our poster highlighted the three pillars of IAM: authentication, authorization and governance, and user lifecycle management, and how they work together to build a scalable program. A big thank you as well to our partner Hanno Ekdahl from Idenhaus Consulting for presenting alongside us and bringing a valuable perspective on strategy and governance. Kevin Nix liked thisyou can always trust Brent to come up with a new segment or a new pop-up based on the show. This came because we were so excited for Ryan Lo making a decision to go to Stanford. And thrilled that we got to wish Colin Fleming a happy birthday. This now is a weekly shout out which I'm fairly sure we'll be doing consistently. What can I say? We like people.Kevin Nix liked thisWe all get bombarded with so much bad/heavy/chaotic news during the course of each day, it's easy to get overwhelmed and stuck in the slop...#AI or otherwise. So after seeing my oldest nephew graduate from med school this past week i just felt like shouting out a little personal good news during the latest CRM Playaz ep. Then I remembered it was his mother's - my sister's - birthday two days after he graduated, so I shouted that out too. The graduation shoutout for my nephew reminded us that our friend Sandra Lo, Zoho's Head of Comms, deserved a shoutout for her son Ryan Lo who had just announced his decision to attend Stanford after he graduates high school. Then as we were talking about #Knowledge26 being this week and me spending a few good minutes with our buddy and ServiceNow CMO Colin Fleming, PG (aka The Godfather of #CRM aka The Venerable Paul Greenberg) shouted out that Colin also celebrated a birthday a few days ago. And finally as we were talking about something it triggered us to shoutout Larry Augustin, Sugar Clint Oram and Zac Sprackett for their announcement of coming out of stealth mode and introducing their joint venture called Brief - The Executive Intelligence platform. Talking about some of the good things going on with folks in our space really felt great and was fun, and reminded us there are lots of good things we can focus on to lighten the mood some. So we're thinking about doing this more regularly. Let us know what you think, and if you have some news you'd potentially like us to shout out let us know! As you will see in this short clip we really enjoyed doing this.

Common themes included managing identity across decentralized environments, supporting secure student access, protecting research funding, and strengthening audit readiness. Many institutions are balancing modernization efforts with limited resources and increasing complexity. We look forward to continuing the conversation tomorrow. 📍 Join our poster session: Building a Successful Identity Management Program Thursday, April 30 | 9:45 AM–10:30 AM California Promenade, Second Floor Learn how to take a practical approach to IAM. Kevin Nix liked thisKevin Nix liked thisAfter 27 years of California, I’m trading my four walls for the open road. I am officially stepping into a new chapter as a digital nomad. After having sold my house and everything in it, I’ve spent the last three weeks in North Carolina tying up loose ends, and in two days, I head to my hometown of Augsburg to celebrate family and friends' birthdays before continuing on to Scandinavia for the summer. For now, I am simply embracing the road and enjoying every moment of it. But this freedom came with a price. Getting to this point was the physically and emotionally hardest time of my life. It took the grueling work of clearing out twenty-seven years of roots and confronting my understanding of stewardship: realizing I’d fallen into the trap of merely storing things rather than using and enjoying them for a life well-lived. I’ve shared my story of this transition, the lessons I’m learning, and where the road is taking me next on my blog. I’d love for you to join me. Kevin Nix liked thisKevin Nix liked thisCatching up for Breakfast in Tokyo with Zach Lawryk, Head of Solutions Engineering at OpenAI, and a good friend. Thirteen years ago, Zach was a mentee. Today, he is helping define what modern Solutions Engineering looks like in the AI era. We talked about the same thing every SE leader is feeling right now: The playbook still matters. But the pace has changed. This is transformation we have seen before, just moving faster than ever. More uncertainty. Less pause. A constant pressure to adapt. That is why the human factor matters even more. SE leaders have to multiply people, not just manage work. They have to lead from the front, not wait for perfect clarity. They have to protect what still works while pushing into new operating models. That is the work. And it was energizing to compare notes with someone helping shape that work from the inside. #salesengineering #solutionsengineering Zach Lawryk #SEManagement #SELI

Kevin Nix liked thisThrilled to share that I’m joining Salesforce as Senior Vice President, leading Government & Global Public Affairs. It’s a broad remit. I've long been drawn to teams and missions that demand range, reward curiosity, and require both beginner's mind and the ability to adapt and deliver outcomes that matter. The last year, working with defense tech companies, major tech firms, and investors, sharpened a conviction: this moment won't be met by any one company. U.S. technological leadership depends on an ecosystem -- startups, scale-ups, established tech firms, defense primes, and the investors and institutions connecting them. The hard part (for this country) isn't innovation; it's adoption, integration, trust, and delivery at scale. Nowhere is that more true than in national security and the public sector, and it's why I've grown increasingly interested in what large technology companies can uniquely contribute. That's what drew me to Salesforce. Last September it launched Missionforce, bringing AI, data, secure cloud, and agentic capabilities into mission-critical government workflows -- strengthening how institutions coordinate, decide, and execute. It builds on a deep foundation: Salesforce is embedded in how governments operate around the world, working with more than 70 U.S. federal agencies alone. But what ultimately drew me in wasn't the scale or the technology -- it was the people. One in particular, Kendall Collins, whom I met half a year ago. He's mission-serious, clear-eyed, and unflinchingly pragmatic about what it takes to create lasting value in time and space. Most importantly, he's an awesome human, and one I'm proud to partner with in this next chapter. For all the time I've spent around technology, strategy, and institutions, I've come to believe the hardest and most consequential work is still human: building trust, aligning people around purpose, and delivering outcomes worthy of the people they're meant to serve. Let’s go. 🙏 🇺🇸Kevin Nix liked thisSix months ago, I sat down with Wendy R. Anderson for what I thought would be a brief introductory conversation. Two hours later, I walked away knowing I'd just met someone values-driven, passionately curious, and truly rare. Wendy has lived at the intersection of national security, technology, and public service in a way almost no one has. She doesn't just understand government — she's helped build it, defend it, and push it forward. That’s why I’m thrilled to welcome Wendy R. Anderson to lead Government & Global Public Affairs at Salesforce. We are living in an extraordinary moment. Agencies across the federal government are being asked to do more with less — to modernize legacy systems, to move at the speed of mission, to serve citizens the way the private sector serves customers. The national security community is navigating a technology landscape that is changing faster than doctrine can keep up. This is exactly the moment Salesforce was built for. And it is exactly the moment for a leader like Wendy. I could not be more excited about what we are going to build together — for our government customers, for the missions they carry, and for the American people they serve. Welcome, Wendy. Let's go!🇺🇸
