Shea Putnam shared thisIn my opinion, RTO is another example of leading/decision making for the exception instead of the majority. It is the small minority that causes the trust issues. It isn't the majority. RTO is a fear-based reaction to control. This isn't anything new. Among other things, that you can’t achieve culture or innovation without it. Adam Grant has the receipts. Join the candid conversations about RTO happening between professionals in The Worklife Bowl. Shea Putnam reposted thisShea Putnam reposted thisA quick note on why I’ve been sharing these observations. My initial visit to #AutomatedDriveSystems gave me a different perspective. As I continue my journey, I’m exposed to new ideas, new technology, and an entirely new approach to looking at things, including openly sharing what we do. I’ve recently discovered a concept called Yokoten — the practice of sharing improvements laterally so the entire system benefits, not just one team or one organization. Good ideas aren’t hoarded. They’re allowed to travel. This isn’t about showcasing how “good” we are or positioning Automated Drive Systems as somehow above the rest of the industry. We have experienced accelerated progress when ideas, systems, and lessons are shared openly internally. The opportunities for even greater acceleration exist when sharing includes customers, vendors, peers, and yes, even competitors. I’m now interested in how competition itself can be a system—one that drives better thinking, stronger processes, and better outcomes for everyone involved. As this series continues, the intent is simple: to invite conversation, participation, and shared learning. To build a community around better systems, better processes, and a better way of working—across the industry as a whole. #ContinuousImprovement doesn’t scale in isolation. It scales when people are willing to learn together. The goal isn’t comparison. It’s contribution. #LeanManufacturing #IndustrialAutomation

If you had to choose just 162 of them to hold the entire continent's biodiversity together, which ones would they be? Someone actually answered that question. A 2025 study led by African Parks, WCS, and Frankfurt Zoological Society analysed all of them and identified 162 that could, if well managed, anchor the continent's entire conservation strategy. They make up roughly 2% of Africa's protected estate by number, yet they cover a third of all protected land and shelter 71% of its threatened vertebrate species. The researchers call them Keystone Protected Areas, borrowing the structural logic of a keystone in an arch. Pull one out, the whole thing weakens. The idea has moved quickly from research to policy. Last September, Presidents of Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, and South Africa launched the Africa Keystone Protected Area Partnership at the United Nations General Assembly. The African Union, African Wildlife Foundation, Rob Walton Foundation, and Conservation International are all backing the effort. The target is to secure effective management across all 162 areas by 2035. Rather than spreading resources across thousands of under-funded sites, the framework aims for concentrated investment that would have the greatest effect on biodiversity, carbon sequestration, water provision, and the 250 million people whose livelihoods depend on these ecosystems. Effective management of the right places might be a better conservation strategy than coverage alone. Same logic applies to restoration. I whipped up this map of all 166 polygons in the Keystone dataset in jewel tones, by designation type. Game Reserves in bright amber, Conservation Areas in emerald, Forest Reserves in red/garnet, Faunal Reserves in deep teal, Community Conservation Areas in turquoise, National Reserves in teal, National Parks in burnt orange, and 23 other designation categories across the dataset. The miombo woodlands, the Congo Basin areas, the Tsavo, the Serengeti-Mara, the great coastal forests of East Africa all emerging clearly. The selection methodology in the white paper explains the criteria used. He wasn't just a dog he was family, our loyal companion, and the best friend we could have ever asked for. Legend filled our home with endless joy, sloppy kisses, and unconditional love. Whether he was greeting us at the door like we'd been gone for years, or simply curling up at our feet, he made every ordinary moment feel special. His wagging tail could brighten the darkest days, and his gentle spirit touched everyone who met him. A decade of memories. A lifetime of love. We are absolutely heartbroken, but so grateful for every single day we had with him. Thank you for being the goodest boy, Legend. You were one of a kind, and you will be deeply, deeply missed. 🐾 Run free, sweet boy. We'll meet again. We love you 🥰 You left on my birthday! 😢❤️

Shea Putnam liked thisShea Putnam liked thisThere’s a moment in this photograph of Congressman John Lewis that stops me every time. Eyes closed. Hands centered. A leader grounded in a truth deeper than strategy, position, or title. John Lewis lived his leadership as light—unyielding, unafraid, and undiminished by the forces determined to silence it. His words remind us of a universal leadership truth: your light is not a metaphor — it is a mandate. Leadership isn’t simply the mechanics of guiding people. It is the courage to illuminate the path when others cannot see it. It’s the clarity you offer when confusion threatens the mission. It’s the steady presence that quiets fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. Every leader faces forces that try to dim that light — criticism, doubt, politics, resentment, fatigue. Lewis warns us: never let anyone or anything dampen or diminish your radiance. Not because you are fragile, but because others depend on the strength of your illumination. Great leaders release bitterness, grudges, and the temptation of revenge. Those emotions don’t strengthen leadership — they distort it. They cloud judgment, fracture trust, and pull you out of purpose. Light cannot flow through a heart carrying darkness. Lewis challenges us to lead with love, peace, and integrity — not as slogans, but as disciplines. Because leadership grounded in ethics, fairness, and unwavering conviction creates something rare: lasting impact that outlives the leader. His legacy is a reminder that the world doesn’t need more noise. It needs more light — courageous, principled, and relentlessly human. Lead so clearly that others see the path. Stand so firmly that others find strength. Shine so brightly that no force can dim what you were born to give. #Leadership #TTLO #CoachMel #Courage #Clarity #Service #Authenticity #Resilience #BeTheLight #LeadershipMatters
