This week is a reminder that as we grow and evolve as a company, how we support our people matters just as much as what we build and deliver. So, we’re collectively taking the time to pause, reset, and focus on what helps us all thrive, both at work and in life. Every day, we’re inviting our #Lumenaries to do one thing to support their well-being, whether that’s reconnecting with an old friend, saying no to a non-essential task, or reviewing a benefit that could make a difference in their life. And, we’ll cap off the week with Global #Wellness Day on May 8th, when we ask Lumenaries to unplug and focus on activities that truly nourish them. Ana White shared thisLast week, we had the chance to spotlight Lumen Technologies’ #culture during an internal Priority Pop-Up event for all #Lumenaries. These pop-ups highlight what matters the most in terms of Lumen’s strategy and performance. The fact that an entire session was dedicated to why culture matters - not just to our people, but our business performance - was no coincidence. It’s the driver behind how we’re moving through change and how our strategy and vision translate into results. I was especially excited to announce our new AI learning path, built to support the mindsets, skillsets, and toolsets our people need to embed AI into everyday work. Our goal is to help everyone at Lumen build confidence with AI while centering human judgment and energy where it matters most. Thank you to my wonderful co-presenters: Andrea Raines, Stephanie Calhoun, Meredith M. Hayes, Ellen Gibney St. Germain, and Chad Naeger. And thank you to all the Lumenaries that attended. Ana White shared thisOne of the reasons I love our HR Town Halls is how they bring our team together for honest dialogue, giving us a renewed sense of clarity and shared purpose. This week's Town Hall was no different. Together, we reflected on an eventful Q1 that asked a lot of our HR team, namely sound judgment and leadership in the face of complexity. Last quarter, we strengthened our foundation for #AI-enabled work, simplifying how we operate and positioning our teams to spend more time on what matters most. And, we launched #DaretoLead training for Directors, reinforced our #Lumen8, and doubled down on our belief that life at Lumen Technologies is connected and human at its core. Thanks to our wonderful lineup of presenters, including Jim Fowler, Stephanie Calhoun, Rossella Blatt Vital, Kathy Flynn, Alexis Kim, Tim Climo, Bryan Smith, RJ Jadhav, and Sarah Bernstein. And most importantly, thank you to everyone who played a part in our accomplishments last quarter. I can’t wait to see what Q2 brings.

Every year, we gather the #Lumenaries that have gone above and beyond - those who have driven amazing results and connected the dots between performance, strategy, culture, growth, impact, and customer outcomes. I was lucky enough to attend Pinnacle 2026 and celebrate this wonderful group. What’s exciting to me is more than just acknowledging the big wins - I’m energized by our amazing people and the heart and hard work they bring to our ongoing transformation journey. A second highlight was playing pickleball with Kina Corcoran. Thank you to our winners and here’s to another amazing year ahead.

Her attention to detail, collaboration, and ability to work with empathy and intelligence are ever-present, no matter how big or small the task. Leaders know that they’re nothing without their team, and Sam plays an integral role in making sure I’m organized and well prepared for the work ahead. I invite everyone to show their Admins some extra appreciation - not just today, but throughout the year. Our unsung heroes deserve a shout out!

Kate and I agree that culture is the true force multiplier when it comes to change. Culture, talent, and technology have to move alongside one another, and in the face of uncertainty, leaders need to be proactive in creating clarity. And as the cherry on top, we received the 2026 Next Practice Award for Lumen Technologies’ work in reinventing performance through #AI-powered goal-setting. At Lumen, we’ve been applying AI to improve goal quality and alignment, and I’m so grateful to the #Lumenaries behind the innovation and collaboration driving this work. It was a proud moment for Stephanie Calhoun and I to accept the award on your behalf, and for Lumen at-large—it’s a true team win. 💭 “Sometimes I fantasize about what the business world would look like if women had written the rules from the beginning.” This line really made me think. So many brilliant minds—especially mothers—have been sidelined not because they lacked skill or ambition, but because the system wasn’t designed with them in mind. Flexible work, leadership roles, and more human-centered expectations shouldn’t be radical ideas—they should be standard.
