Over the past few weeks, I’ve been spending time really thinking about how difficult mutual exchange can be for social housing tenants. What stands out isn’t just the lack of options — it’s how many of those options aren’t actually realistic. People can spend hours searching, only to realise: • the location doesn’t work • the property doesn’t meet their needs • or the swap would never be viable in practice It made me question whether the issue is less about availability, and more about how matching is currently approached. That’s what led me to start developing SwapSmart — a platform focused on making mutual exchange simpler, more practical and more realistic. It’s still early stages, but I’ve already started connecting with people across housing and local government, and the insights have been really valuable. A few weeks ago, we gave our first customers access to Sonovate Wallets. What they told us confirmed something we’ve believed for a while.
