Mercedes-Benz 500 E: The Porsche-Built Luxury Performance Icon Before Mercedes-AMG became a fully integrated performance sub-brand, Mercedes-Benz collaborated with Porsche to produce some of its most iconic high-performance models. A prime example is the W124-generation 500 E (1991–1994), a luxury sedan powered by a 5.0-litre V8 delivering 240 kW and 480 Nm, achieving 0–100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h. Due to its wider, lower body, the 500 E was too large for Mercedes production lines. Porsche engineered and hand-built the car, strengthening the W124 chassis to accommodate the V8. Chassis and body components shuttled between Mercedes Sindelfingen plant and Porsche’s Zuffenhausen facility for painting, assembly and engine installation, with each car completing the round-trip twice over an 18-day build cycle. Distinctive features include a lowered stance, widened wheel arches, Porsche-tuned Bilstein suspension and 16-inch alloy wheels. Over 10,000 units were produced, commanding a premium over standard W124 models. Today, the 500 E is highly collectible, praised for its blend of understated luxury, dynamic performance and engineering excellence. Michael Monig, a Porsche engineer on the project, described the 500 E as plenty of power, but without being ostentatious, both dynamic and luxurious at the same time, calling it his favorite project. #MercedesBenz #Porsche #OceanNewsUK #UK #Ocean #breaking #latest #London More On: oceannewsuk.com 📺Satellite - Asiasat7: Frequency 3880 H, Symbol Rate: 29720

More dealers are turning service drives into used-car acquisition engines. Malik Hussain, General Manager at Bill Jacobs Motorsport, explains how pre-appraisals and full-store alignment are turning service traffic into inventory. "For service drive, it's just like a car sale, in my opinion. If you're not presenting that number on paper a hundred percent of the time, you're losing business, you're losing opportunity." "We convert so many, in my previous dealerships and currently, from service to sales, and we get the best cars because we service them previously." "We source about 15% from service, which is a good number. We're trying to attain somewhere in the 30% region." Modified Clutch Discs with clutch button One of the most common upgrades in performance and modified clutches is replacing the standard facing with copper-based clutch button. Why choose copper clutch buttons? Excellent heat resistance – stable performance under demanding conditions. Stronger durability – longer service life compared to conventional materials. Consistent torque transfer – reliable engagement for high-performance needs. This modification is widely used not only in motorsport, but also in modified vehicles, off-road applications, and heavy-duty conditions. #forklift #trailer #autopart #spareparts #transmission #OEM #clutch #brake #repairkit #Motorsports

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. today announced its 2026 Rebel lineup, reinforcing the model family’s position as one of the most popular and versatile names in the cruiser category. Long recognized for combining timeless styling with rider-friendly performance, the Rebel models continue to attract new motorcyclists while also appealing to seasoned riders. For the new model year, the spotlight is on the Rebel 300, which becomes the third powersports model to feature Honda’s innovative E-Clutch technology, further lowering the barrier to entry for new riders, while enhancing convenience for all. Rounding out the lineup, the Rebel 500 and Rebel 1100 return for 2026, delivering the performance, reliability and character that have made the Rebel nameplate a mainstay of Honda’s on-road lineup. “The Rebel brand has been a cornerstone of Honda’s on-road lineup throughout its long history, and it continues to resonate with riders of varying ages and backgrounds,” said Colin Miller, Manager of Public Relations at American Honda. “The 2026 Rebel 300—now with E-Clutch technology—builds on that legacy by combining timeless design with cutting-edge innovation, while the Rebel 500 and Rebel 1100 platforms carry forward the same trusted qualities that have made Honda’s cruisers so popular.”

1963 Studebaker Super Lark Daytona Convertible Supercharged power in a compact convertible package was an unusual combination in 1963, but Studebaker delivered exactly that with the Daytona. After Brooks Stevens restyled the Lark line for 1962, the Daytona emerged as the flagship model with bucket seats, a center console, and styling details that distinguished it from its siblings. The convertible body style added open-air driving to an already sporting formula. R2-equipped models (a $210 factory option) featured a supercharged 289 CI V-8 producing 290 horsepower, fed by a Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetor and a Paxton SN-60 centrifugal supercharger. Options included a Power-Shift automatic transmission and power front disc brakes (the latter a first for an American production car). Andy Granatelli's engineering team developed these performance packages after Studebaker acquired his Paxton Products supercharger company. The performance lineup spanned R1 through R5 designations, though the most potent R4 and R5 versions were experimental and never offered for public sale. These compact performance Studebakers helped pioneer the American muscle car trend that would define much of 1960s automotive culture.
