My biggest worry as CEO isn't competition. It's not the next big change in AI… It's the day my team stops giving it their all. Passion today doesn't guarantee passion tomorrow. Cultures drift. Founders lose focus. Companies get big and forget what made them special. We all watch this happen, and it's a constant thought on my mind. Today this landed in my inbox: A 10/10 NPS from Joseph Herr at Kleen-Rite Corp. The line that struck me: "Every employee I've interacted with is clearly passionate about their work and cares about their customers' success." 10+ years in. 1,000+ customers later. Rebuilt the company (a few times). And a customer is still telling us how much our people care. That doesn't happen by accident. It's a thousand small decisions, every day, rooted in a core value: it is people who build companies, and they matter greatly. Treating departures with the same respect as arrivals. Saying no to the wrong customers. Saying yes to the hard things. Protecting the rituals when they are in question. Playing the long game. Just being honest about stuff. Joseph, thank you...these words mean so much. To Jenna Delfino, Sarah Corbett, and the entire team behind this account...you make Conductor great. Passion is the one moat AI can't copy. Not now. Not ever. Protect it with everything you've got.
Seth Besmertnik I am so happy to hear how much those words mean to you and I’m sure they mean a lot to everyone else at Conductor! AI will never be able to beat passion and care. That is what sets us apart, the human element. I can tell everyone at Conductor truly cares about the customers they work with which is one of the many reasons I love being a Conductor customer. The extra care goes a long way and means a lot to me!
Completely agree with this. When you're in a good place culturally, taking deliberate action to preserve it is crucial. Culture's fluid and needs constant work. What are you guys doing to keep those core values at the heart of the culture alive? You mentioned specific actions in your post, but have you put much structure around it yet?
I concur with Joe! Every person I work with at Conductor is amazing!
I really agree that people are the heart of a company, you can have the best idea in the world but it means nothing without the right people to make it happen
I think the real signal is that the customer noticed the team’s energy, not just the product outcome. 👏 That usually means the culture is still reaching the front line :)
Way to lead with recognition Seth, as you always do, congrats
Thank you, Seth! Conductor has been a great place to work since day 1. Joseph Herr It has been such a pleasure working with you and I look forward to seeing all that you achieve throughout the coming year!
