Guus Keunen’s Post

The hardest problems in tech usually aren’t technical. Last week in Bucharest, I joined a meetup with software engineers and managers. It was a reminder that how we work with people is just as important as how we work with code. Key takeaways: - Clarity beats assumptions. Misaligned expectations quietly kill productivity and trust. - Respectful communication drives performance. Trust gives people space to take ownership and grow. - Culture is everything. A silent team is just as toxic as one with public call-outs. We often call these “soft” skills, but they’re the hardest to master and the most critical for long-term success. Big thanks to Adelina Stanciu for an insightful evening. I’m already putting these lessons into practice.

It was great having you there. Thank you for joining and sharing your insights. I appreciate how you captured the key points and added your perspectives. Soft skills are definitely some of the toughest to master but they make all the difference. It’s encouraging to see these ideas being put into practice.
