Tech advancements are not strictly limited to the digital space. Building and construction has certainly continued to evolve over the years, with designers & builders looking for ways to reduce build time & resources used. This modular concept is allowing the developer to rapidly complete this project vs normal timelines: "This product is nearing completion in half the time a project of the same size would have taken using traditional methods." What are other ways you have seen technology make positive impacts in the construction or manufacturing sectors? #Efficiency #ConstructionTech #Prefabricated #VectorOne via Columbus Business First https://lnkd.in/eUFWPrEc

A Clear Look at Wisconsin Construction in 2026 AGC’s 2026 Wisconsin Construction Outlook shows a construction market that is stable, selective, and constrained by labor. Contractors expect the strongest growth in data centers, manufacturing, healthcare, multifamily housing, and power infrastructure, while retail, federal projects, and some public building work are expected to soften. This shift reflects where long-term investment is happening — and where competition will be most intense. Backlogs remain steady. More than half of Wisconsin contractors report confidence heading into 2026, with many noting their pipeline is larger than this time last year. Growth, however, is cautious. Most firms anticipate flat or modest staffing changes, driven less by lack of work and more by workforce availability. Labor remains the industry’s biggest challenge. Nearly 80% of contractors report difficulty filling open positions, prompting continued investment in wages, benefits, and incentives. Despite these pressures, productivity has largely held steady or improved, showing how firms are adapting. Supply chain disruptions have eased compared to recent years, but cost pressures persist, particularly around labor, materials, tariffs, and financing. Contractors continue to adjust bids and contracts to manage risk. The takeaway for 2026 is straightforward: Wisconsin construction remains strong, but success will favor firms that plan carefully, invest in people, and adapt to a more focused market. Standout growth sectors Data Centers → +64% (highest growth expectation) Manufacturing → +38% Hospitals / Healthcare → +36% Multifamily Residential → +33% Power & Utilities → +32% Warehouses & Logistics → +29% Softer or declining sectors Retail → –12% Federal projects → –8% Public buildings → –7% https://lnkd.in/gJwizfqX

Exciting news from the infrastructure front: Meta has committed US$1 billion to build a next-generation data center in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, a 700,000 sq ft facility designed to support AI and cloud scale. This project, to be led by Mortenson, will combine cutting-edge construction technologies including BIM coordination, drone-enabled site mapping, robotic automated layout, and even VR-based project reviews, to deliver rapid, precise build execution. What stands out is Meta’s sustainability commitment for the campus. The design relies on dry-cooling to eliminate water-cooling demand during operations. Meta also pledges to restore 100 % of the water used back to local watersheds. Beyond that, the project includes restoration of 570 acres of wetlands and prairie around the site. On the socio-economic side, the development is expected to generate around 1,000 construction jobs at peak and ~100 permanent operational roles. Plus, Meta plans to invest nearly US$200 million in associated energy infrastructure upgrades a move that strengthens the regional power and utility grid. This project reflects a broader trend: as demand for AI and cloud computing intensifies, hyperscale data center builds are reshaping infrastructure, energy planning, and sustainability in parallel. Stay ahead in the industry! Automated Technology Company LLC

One of the things we take pride in at Automated Technology Company LLC is helping clients resolve long-standing issues with their building automation systems—especially when those issues stem from poor design, not the technology itself. This past week, Frank Thompson MSD and Todd Phillips spent time on-site at the Cleveland Public Library, a remarkable facility comprised of two interconnected buildings: 🏛 The original library, built in 1925, spans five historic floors 🏢 The adjacent 10-story wing, constructed in 1997, supports modern operations Both buildings were outfitted with Siemens KNX lighting controls that—on paper—should have offered a simple and reliable lights on/lights off solution. Unfortunately, due to improper system design and commissioning during the original installation, the client was left with inconsistent performance and a negative perception of Siemens KNX as a whole. 📉 What failed wasn’t the KNX Association protocol or the Siemens hardware—it was the lack of proper planning, programming, and commissioning. At Automated Technology Company LLC, we believe that even the best technology is only as good as the team behind it. That’s why we stand behind every project from initial design through final commissioning. Our team is trained, certified, and deeply experienced in KNX systems—ensuring dependable, future-proof performance every time. 💡 Always choose a partner who knows the technology, local and regional codes, understands your application, and stands behind their work. #KNX #BuildingAutomation #SmartBuildings #LightingControl #ATCsolutions #CommissioningMatters #ClevelandPublicLibrary #ATC #SmartLighting #HistoricBuildings #OpenStandards #KNXUSA

Fixing closeout is the fastest way to unlock FM value. In this episode of The ConTech Crew, hosts Jeff Sample and Nathan C. Wood speak with Jacob D'Albora, FMP, Director of Digital Building Operations at VIATechnik about the disaster that is project closeout-and why fixing it is the key to smarter operations. Project closeout is one of the worst phases in construction. It’s fragmented. Manual. Redundant. Facility teams are left retyping data that was already captured during construction because no one validated it or ensured handover readiness. Wasted hours. Delayed occupancy. Long-term data loss. It’s not a tech problem-it’s a budget problem. Design and construction budgets live separately from facility operations. So no one owns the connection point. But owners who break that wall-who force capital and operations to collaborate-are seeing the biggest wins. 🎧Watch the full episode https://lnkd.in/gpFJmBrV #ProjectCloseout #BIMstrategy #FacilityManagement #DataHandover #ConstructionTech #BuiltEnvironment #SmartOperations #AECinnovation #LifecycleData #DigitalTwin

Crain's Grand Rapids Business

Microsoft Corp. is in the process of acquiring additional property to add to the 356-acre site the company has amassed south of Grand Rapids for a planned data center. The Gaines Township Planning Commission is set to consider a revised rezoning application tied to the project on April 15, which will include an “expanded scope” for the development, said Dan Wells, the township’s community development director. Microsoft is working to acquire nearly 58 acres of Steelcase Inc.’s old wood plant property, Wells said, which is adjacent to the proposed project site. Microsoft started assembling the site for its proposed Gaines Township data center in August 2024, when the company purchased 316 acres at the northwestern corner of the Patterson Avenue and 76th intersection from Steelcase for $45.3 million. The tech giant subsequently acquired another 40.5 acres just to the north in November 2024 for $9.7 million from alcohol distributor Republic National Distributing Co., which had acquired the parcel from Steelcase in 2022. The company now is in the process of acquiring the southern portion of a Steelcase property at 4100 68th St. SE. The site is directly to the north of its existing acreage. With the addition, Microsoft will control roughly 414 contiguous acres for its data center project, nearly 100 more acres than the company initially acquired. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eXH_KNf8

At this NV5 BIM Team monthly meetup, Zachary J Carson and Nicholas Aggers shared updates and thoughts on Revit Updates and Automation: 📄 Sheet Collections Updates to these features enhance existing, built-in tools to group, sort, and schedule sheets—complete with titleblock data and custom parameters. Sheet view positions can now be saved, locked, edited uniformly, and even transferred between projects. This applies to legends and drafting views along with model views and may may be an eventual replacement for Guide Grids, though both still exist for now. These developments continue to improve clarity and consistency across drawing sets and projects. 🔍 Revamped Linked Files Workflow Revit has overhauled how we manage links and imports; the addition of a data point notation for insert type allows for locating and identifying CAD imports, even inside families. The addition of a Show command makes locating imports possible without plugins. 🤖 Automation with Revit API API helps allow us to give more functionality to Revit. From automating wall placement and spacing to building a Navisworks export tool, he's building tools that save time and reduce errors while improving template development for clients. Bonus: he's experimenting with AI to support coding (but remember—always double-check the code). If you've tried Sheet Collections or API automations in Revit—what's worked for you? #NV5 #Revit #BIM #Automation #Technology NV5 Buildings and Technology

Before you need "All-In-One construction management software," you need to GET THE CONTRACT FIRST. Stop putting the cart before the horse. Construction companies are buying workflow software, project management systems, and "next-generation platforms." ☑️But they can't win bids consistently. You're optimizing operations for projects you don't have. Predictable monthly pricing for software? How about predictable monthly contracts? Most construction companies have the tools to manage work. They don't have the strategy to WIN work. ☑️That's the actual problem. Your CRM is full of dead leads. Your project management software sits empty. Your "simplified workflows" manage nothing because you're not winning bids. ☑️Cart. Horse. Wrong order. ☑️SOLUTION: Fix your positioning FIRST. → Why should they choose YOU over 10 other contractors? → What's your brand strategy for winning contracts? → How are you differentiating in the bid process? ☑️Then optimize your operations. I work with construction companies ($3M+ revenue) on brand strategy and positioning that wins contracts. Once you're winning consistently, THEN buy the software. ☑️Get the horse in front of the cart.☑️ Stop Reading. Start Seeing. P.S. - Most construction companies optimize for efficiency. But efficient at what? Managing projects you're not winning? Fix your contract acquisition strategy first. Then scale operations. That's the order that creates revenue. https://bit.ly/42WLqzK
