Jonah Bloom reposted thisJonah Bloom reposted thisThis is Sean Prian aka "Uncle Sean" ... my wife's brother (and perfect family), serving his 25th year in the City of Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). However hard our jobs may be, if we're on LinkedIn right now, Sean's job is harder. THANK YOU to Sean and his thousands of firefighter colleagues from LA and across the USA, Canada and Mexico, who continue to fight the STILL BURNING AND LESS THAN 20% CONTAINED fires. Thank you again to Sean, who at the height of the firefighting madness and its associated community support recognized that while stations in certain neighborhoods were awash in kind-hearted celebrity pop-ins and meal drops, the teams from stations in neighborhoods that are food deserts on a good day were lacking. So Sean worked with our colleague Liza Killian and her husband Juan Jose Ferreiro to have Great White Partners, where Juan is Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage, conceive, prepare and deliver hundreds of protein-rich and whole-grain-packed meals to stations in neighborhoods like Compton and South Central. Who does this? Uncle Sean does. Firefighters do. They look out for each other while looking out for all of us. So let's look out for them. As the LA fires drop to the number three news item (Hegseth, Michelle Obama), and soon drop out of global and national consciousness while LA rebuilds from what appears to be the most costly disaster in US history, please take a moment to thank our firefighters. And if you're inclined to say thank you with a contribution, Uncle Sean recommends Los Angeles Firemen's Relief Association (link in Comments, where I welcome similar links). Superconnector Studios will be donating $10,000. And if this is re-posted more than 100 times, we'll double it. Thank you. 🚒❤️👨🚒

Two days of epic programming highlighting the brilliance and guts of us small agencies, topped with a couple of big old cherries. Our Keep Making Plans campaign for OhioHealth won Health Care Campaign of the Year (Silver) and I received the honor of being named Small Agency Executive of the Year (eek!). Could not be more proud of the work we do, the people and clients we do it with, and everything we stand for at Doe-Anderson. So thankful to have experienced it with John Birnsteel and Matt Woehrmann. The most heartfelt thanks to Judann Pollack, Tim Nudd, Brian Bonilla, Jeanine Poggi and the whole AdAge team.

Jonah Bloom shared thisJonah Bloom shared thisThe outpouring of emotion and stories from dog lovers over the last few days has truly blown my mind (and made me cry more or less hourly). I couldn’t be happier the great work of our great brand and marketing team at The Farmer’s Dog has been seen, and our message heard. And I couldn’t be prouder of our small creative/production team including co-creative director Sophie Forman, exec producer Sherri Levy, and editor Sophia Lou. Endless kudos to our brilliant, kind (and Canadian!) director, Goh Iromoto—and all the other incredible talent we couldn’t believe we were lucky enough to work with, including the wizards at soundlounge and Royal Muster. We are all thrilled that this simple but heartfelt story hit home with dog people (and USA Today AdMeter voters : ) Thank you The Farmer's Dog for the chance to do something different, and real, at the big game.

Jonah Bloom posted thisA friend of mine at a fun brand is looking for a freelance social media manager who can jump into a small in-house team and take over day-to-day duties. They want someone to take over the social calendar and help with planning posts; generate low-lift ideas and work with the copy and design teams to execute; follow up on UGC permissions; manage posting across all channels (either natively or via Sprout); and help with basic analytics. It's a freelance job for now (full-time hours), but could evolve into a staff position. If that's you, or you know someone, hit me up and I'll put you in touch. #socialemediamarketing #freelance #hiring

Jonah Bloom liked thisJonah Bloom liked thisThe smartest companies don’t just sell products. They engineer perceived value. Take Five Guys Enterprises. Their fries are legendary, not just because they’re good, but because of the experience built around them. You pick a size. They fill the cup. Then, they throw an extra scoop straight into your brown bag. That last scoop breaks every rule of finance and operational efficiency… but it makes the brand unforgettable. Because psychology > arithmetic. The human brain disproportionately values what it didn’t expect. That extra scoop signals generosity, abundance, and hospitality, attributes that trigger emotional loyalty far more effectively than a perfectly balanced cost sheet ever will. Put the decision in the hands of a “rational” operator, and they’d increase the cup size. Put it in the hands of a CFO, and they’d eliminate the freebies entirely. Both would destroy what Five Guys actually sells: the feeling of getting more than you paid for. And this isn’t new. When Jeff Bezos proposed free two-day shipping for Amazon Prime, finance called it a disaster. They projected a loss of $1.7B, and they were right. But what they didn’t calculate was perceived value. Prime generated $17B in the same year because customers changed their purchasing behavior. Convenience became a habit. Loyalty became a reflex. That’s the symbiotic power of branding, marketing, and sales: People don’t buy the product. They buy the feeling the product gives them. In leadership, the lesson is simple: • Don’t let spreadsheets suffocate imagination. • Don’t let “efficiency” erase emotional value. • Don’t forget that humans make decisions emotionally first, rationally second. The brands that win aren’t just operationally sound, they’re psychologically relevant. And the leaders who win aren’t just optimizing processes, they’re architecting experiences. Sometimes the greatest ROI comes from the simplest thing: One extra scoop of fries. #BrandStrategy #MarketingPsychology #Leadership #CustomerExperience #ValueCreation #BusinessStrategy #FiveGuys #PerceivedValue #CX #SalesAndMarketing #Innovation #GrowthMindset #LeadershipDevelopment

After 15 years in Nashville, it feels especially fitting and honestly overdue to step into the music industry, where creativity and community are woven into everyday life here at home. What drew me to BMI is its rare blend of heritage and leadership. More than a million songwriters, composers and publishers. Tens of millions of musical works. Trillions of music moments each year across a complex global digital landscape. All in service of the creators behind the music we love. There’s something powerful about an organization that has shaped so much creative history and continues to evolve with purpose and momentum, in service of the people behind the music. The people. The soul. The mission. Let’s roll!! https://lnkd.in/gMX77FX4

Jonah Bloom liked thisJonah Bloom liked thisI joined hundreds of colleagues this past week in Nashville for Asurion's 2026 Kick-Off Conference. It’s exciting to learn about so many impressive, new initiatives. Having been at the company for 27 years, I remember the “early days” when we held these meetings in a small conference room at a Marriott Courtyard 😊! This year’s gathering was nostalgic because I presented my “Building Strong Business Relationships” workshop for account teams focused on clients beyond the company's legacy categories (mobile operators, ISPs, telecom, and CE). My public speaking began in 2022 with a seminar for a dozen Asurion directors, and I am so appreciative of colleagues' support along the journey. Shout out to VP/GM Maureen Foley for organizing the agenda, along with SVP John Leonard and VP/GMs Wendy Lowenthal, Maranda Smith-Pyles, Jaydon Robinson, & Rob Sader. These are tenured executives, leading talented teams, and launching innovative programs for Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet Inc., and many more.

Jonah Bloom liked thisJonah Bloom liked thisIn an episode of Antique Roadshow, a remarkable story unfolded as a United States Air Force veteran named David acquired a Rolex Ref. 6263, the iconic Paul Newman Rolex Daytona, for a mere $345 at a military exchange during his service decades ago. This purchase, made with a 10% military discount, equated to nearly a month's salary for David, given the earnings of U.S. Air Force members in 1974. Fast forward to today, and David's $345 Rolex has surged in value to an estimated $500,000 to $700,000. Originally acquired for its suitability for scuba diving, David chose to keep it mostly unworn in a safety deposit box for the past 40 years, maintaining its pristine condition along with original papers, two receipts, and the original box. The Rolex Daytona, especially the coveted Paul Newman styles, remains a highly sought-after item in the secondary market, exemplified by Newman's Daytona setting a record as the highest-priced watch at auction in 2017. Most internal communications professionals are being asked to do two major things at the same time: Drive transformation and create stability. AI is asking us all to adapt to a world with partially defined possibilities, and the tension is real. As I've taken time this week to think about the internal communications industry, I've come to the conclusion that stability doesn't come from slowing things down. I think it comes from making change understandable. When people really understand what's happening and why, it creates momentum instead of chaos, and momentum is what's going to carry us through.

Strategy is as much about what you don’t do. And, in an industry obsessed with "more"—more channels, more content, more speed—the most transformative tool a leader has is the word "No." Our own Dimitra Georgakis, MBA shares a powerful perspective in Strategy Magazine on why the "Power of No" is the secret to protecting craft, preventing burnout, and delivering work that actually lands. Choosing a strategic "no" today makes room for a legendary "yes" tomorrow. Really enjoyed speaking with Frank at PRWeek about what happens after the layoff — and how leaders can respond with clarity, confidence, and momentum. The industry is changing fast: consolidation, the Omnicom–Interpublic Group (IPG) deal, and AI disruption are reshaping roles and expectations. The takeaway? Don’t panic. Get clear, get visible, invest in skills, and take control of the narrative. I’ve scored more than 40 RFP submissions in the last 90 days (media buying and/or marketing and comms.) Seriously, this is the stack and it’s about ½ of what I've read. From that- I've come up with a checklist that will stop you from writing an incomplete proposal and take you into finalist status. 1. Check. The. Boxes. Mirror the RFP structure the organization has put out and answer every prompt. If we ask for goals in your case studies, give them. Are creative examples required? Put them in. 2. Social media impressions aren’t outcomes. Stop with the vanity metrics. We need to understand if you make things HAPPEN. Show business impact: leads, lift, conversion, cost per result, CTR. 3. Prove you understand the problem. Understand the brand and the challenge before you start to write your response. Then summarize the brand challenge in their language. Bonus points for adding 1–2 data points that will direct the organization towards success. 4. Use relevant proof. Parallel case studies beat “your greatest hits” every time. I've seen the EXACT SAME examples in three of the RFP's I've scored lately- you don't know who is reading your work and may have seen your other responses. 5. Name the actual doers. Who is leading strategy, buying, creative, reporting? Don't just send a stack of resumes. And be realistic. Don't name your president when you know that appearance will be rare. 6. Methodology > vibes. If you’re “now doing buys” and not just a PR or content work company anymore OR if you're a traditional broadcast company at heart- show your process, not just results. 7. Don’t just say what you do, show how you do it. “Statewide reach” is a claim. What’s the plan that gets you there? 8. Create a Table of Contents that matches the RFP sections. And then add anything else to the TOC that you feel is important. This way you address everything we're asking for + share your bonus information on why you’re the one to do the job. 9. Put Quality Assurance into this team process like your life depends on it. Double-check. And then check again. No leftover text from another proposal. Ever. I unfortunately have seen it. If you’re writing an RFP response anytime soon: save this. Want a 1-page RFP response template? Comment “RFP” and I’ll share it. I hope this was helpful!

This piece about #GaryVaynerchuk highlights the reality communications has been navigating for a long time. If a message takes too long to land, it’s already lost its moment. “Big brands,” he says, “must move at the speed of culture. And they frequently don’t.” Marketing teams are now seeing the gap between how fast the world moves and how long it takes organizations to decide what they want to say. When messages get stuck in loops, marketing feels it first. But communications has been living there for years - I’ve seen it in large and small organizations. A simple gut check helps get unstuck. Can we say this clearly, get comfortable with it, and put it out while it still matters? If not, the issue isn’t the message… It’s the hesitation which is often a gap within risk tolerance, clarity, and/or accountability. https://lnkd.in/esBkDZxJ

“Based on recent Wiley research, stress, burnout, meeting overload, infrequent feedback, the lack of trust and healthy conflict, not having authority to make decisions, Artificial Intelligence (AI) uncertainty and the lack of overall career success are key challenges heading into 2026. Their hypothesis: a return to human skills as the performance engine for organizations and a renewed focus on psychological safety.” #leadership #trust #ai #culture #psychological #safety #human #skills
