Umair Khan shared thisWhat an incredible two workshops — 🏖️ Irvine and 🗼 Seattle, thank you to everyone who joined and made the conversations so rich. The energy, the candid discussions, and the willingness to share real challenges in the room was exactly what this format is built for. The workshop series continues to gain momentum. The themes that kept surfacing across both cities: token economics with no clean owner, new services adopted faster than the last ones are under control, and the constant challenge of getting engineering, finance, and the business pulling in the same direction. The gap between visibility and actual action is real and AI is making it wider and faster. Two things that really landed: Policy guard rails aren't bureaucracy — they're a strategy to prevent decision fatigue. When every engineer is making a fresh judgment call about which model to use or what to spin up next, that's cognitive overhead at scale. The teams winning here have built frameworks that make the right thing the easy thing. And in AI, you can't just report on what happened. You have to fix and prevent issues in real time. Observe → alert → act is too slow when models and engineers are spending faster than any report can catch. The shift has to be toward predict, prevent, and remediate — automatically. This is exactly what we're focused on at Stacklet — going beyond visibility to actually fix and prevent issues before they become problems, at the speed the business demands. #FinOps #FinOpsforAI Stacklet Frank Contrepois

Umair Khan shared thisAustin ✅ Dallas ✅ Thank you to everyone who participated in our hands-on FinOps Governance for AI & Cloud Infrastructure workshops. It was great to see teams dig into the case studies, challenge each other's approaches, and walk away with ideas they could actually use. The participation and engagement made both sessions genuinely valuable. Three things that came up in the room and in the hallway: 1. Visibility is where most teams start — and they're getting there. Cost dashboards, spend tracking, showback — this is the foundation, and a lot of teams have made real progress. The data exists. The harder work starts after. 2. Attribution and value measurement is still wide open. Connecting AI costs to business outcomes and making the ROI case to leadership remains the unsolved problem for most organizations right now. 3. Governance and innovation are in tension — and in AI, the cost of getting it wrong is high. This was the sharpest theme from both cities. AI workloads move fast, scale fast, and mistakes don't stay cheap. Ungoverned environments lead to cost spikes, security exposure, and innovation that quietly becomes a liability. The teams getting ahead aren't slowing down innovation — they're automating guardrails so policy enforces itself, at scale, before problems become incidents. Up next: **Irvine** and **Seattle** 🗺️ Stacklet Frank Contrepois Want us to bring this workshop to your city? Drop a comment or DM me. Umair Khan shared thisNothing beats real conversations with the community! Sonny Shi and I spent the week at KubeCon in the Project Pavilion, and the Cloud Custodian booth was buzzing. We had strong traction talking about how governance as code helps teams move beyond visibility into proactive, automated remediation and prevention The best part? Hearing from current users who stopped by with stories like: “I get those Cloud Custodian pings all the time—every time I get the tags wrong it fixes them for me.” Or ““I recently saw our infrastructure team experimenting with it with messaging coming to our Slack channel.” I also loved reconnecting with engineers who’ve used Cloud Custodian for years — or who’ve been on the ‘receiving end’ of its automated fixes. We also had a great time hosting a dinner with the Stacklet team. Big thanks to Muthuraman Annamalai and the local FinOps community for joining—such a vibrant, engaged group. Really appreciated the time, conversations and energy. #KubeCon #CloudCustodian #FinOps #CloudGovernance

The Career Downloads podcast "explores technology career paths through interviews with professionals sharing their journeys, lessons, and practical advice." I am always grateful for opportunities to share my experiences in tech while living with Crohn's Disease. It was really fun chatting in person in Las Vegas and I had a fantastic interview experience. If you're interested in sharing your own career experiences to inspire and encourage others I highly recommend connecting with Manuel. The podcast is available now on your favorite platform and on YouTube. https://lnkd.in/g2tPjkQC #podcastinterview #lasvegas #blackintech #finops #nevergiveup #believeinyourself #crohnsdiseaseawareness #shareyourstoryUmair Khan liked thisHe self-funded every certification. He paid for the conference out of pocket. Six months later, he had the job. That's Jordan B.'s story. Cloud engineer. Air Force veteran. FinOps practitioner. Crohn's disease survivor. He walked into a dinner full of CISOs and CTOs as the only engineer at the table. He didn't wait to be called on. He introduced himself to the CISO of New American Funding and said: "I like my job, but I'm always looking." That one conversation changed his career. Jordan lives by one rule: Closed mouths don't get fed. He also lives with daily pain. Two feet of colon removed and 17 years of symptoms. And he still shows up. Not because he's perfect. Because his goals are bigger than how he feels. There's a line he said that feels like me: "People don't earn my respect. They lose it." That's how he builds his circle. That's how he leads. That's how he keeps going. On this episode of Career Downloads® we talked about: • Self-funding your growth when no one else will • How "ego is not your amigo" opened doors • Living with chronic illness and still climbing • What FinOps is and why it matters now • How to find people worth trusting Listen to the episode. Learn from his experiences. Download the knowledge. Link in the comments.

Umair Khan liked thisUmair Khan liked thisI'm excited to share that our new research just beat Claude Code and Codex at the hardest part of AI agent work. Big thank you to Forbes for the feature! The autonomous coding agent market is projected to reach $53.2 bilion by 2030. That entire projection rests on one assumption: that generating code is where agents fail. It isn't. We logged every tool call across thousands of agent sessions to find out how AI coding agents actually spend their time: 56.8% were file reads. 24.2% were grep. < 1% were actual edits to code. Agents aren't failing to think. They're failing to find. Every coding agent today navigates codebases by grep - the equivalent of driving every street in the city, hoping to find an address by accident. That's why we created Cielara Code. The core architectural insight: an agent should map the entire codebase before it opens a single file and tries to edit it. Underlying this is a Code Dependency Knowledge Graph we built that gives agents like Claude Code and Codex a live map of how every file, function, and dependency in a codebase connects. They stop searching. They go straight to the right files. Cielara Code beat Claude Code (Opus-4.6) and Codex (GPT-5.4) on 3 independent benchmarks: - Localization accuracy: 0.774 vs 0.738 (Claude Code), 0.707 (Codex) - MULocBench recall@5: 0.752 vs 0.727 - Task time: 141.84 → 128.62 seconds We at Causal Dynamics Lab could not be more excited about what this unlocks. The market spent two years optimizing code generation - the wrong half of the problem. The agents were flying blind the whole time. We're betting the future is about giving AI agents sight and this is the first proof that it works. Link in the comments to read more!

Umair Khan liked thisUmair Khan liked thisCielara AI was never meant to be the whole story. When we started building in 2025, the problem was real and urgent - give engineering teams a way to understand what breaks 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 they deploy. That's what Cielara does: a live world model of your infrastructure that simulates any test changes before they go live. It's working, and we're super proud of it, but the company we're building sits at a different level than a single product. I'm excited to announce that today, Causal Dynamics Lab is live 🚀 CDL is the parent company behind Cielara and the work that will follow. We're an AI research lab that builds world models of production environments to power products that can understand and act on software. For everyone who's been following us as Cielara, nothing about the product changes. What's changing is how visible the larger scope of what we're building has become. Umair Khan reacted on thisUmair Khan reacted on thisCharlotte FinOps community, this one's for you! Stacklet is bringing their FinOps Governance for AI & Cloud Infrastructure workshop to Charlotte on May 13. Hands-on, practitioner-focused, dinner to follow. A few of you have reached out asking when the next Charlotte community event is. This is it, and it's a strong one. Frank Contrepois designed the workshop, and Stacklet has run it in NYC, Atlanta, Dallas, and Austin. The energy in those rooms has been exactly what this topic deserves. It's an MBA-style format built around case studies, covering governance for high-cost AI workloads across GPU infrastructure, AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, and more. As AI spend grows, governance is becoming one of the most important conversations in FinOps, and traditional approaches need to evolve. Moxy Charlotte Downtown | 3:00–6:00 PM EST (with optional dinner after) Certificate of completion included. Space is limited. Co-hosting this one with Stacklet and Umair Khan to bring it to the Charlotte FinOps community. Umair Khan reacted on thisUmair Khan reacted on thisToday, Causal Dynamics Lab is finally live! We’re an AI research lab building products that give machines the understanding to act on complex systems. Every engineer I've worked with knows the feeling: You're about to deploy a change, reasonably confident it's safe, so you ship it. But you can't see what it touches three layers downstream and something breaks. That gap is where most production outages are born. And AI coding tools have made it wider. Our flagship product, Cielara AI, was built to close it - using the Production World Model to simulate every code change against your live environment before deployment. And it’s working, so we’re just getting started. Many more products to come at Causal Dynamics Lab. Check out the new site here: causaldynamics.com

A functional GTM OS runs on shared rituals (weekly syncs, daily deal threads), real metrics like NRR and LTV:CAC, and live feedback loops via tools like Gong and Apollo AI. It’s powered by living docs and intentional motions—PLG isn’t the default. In one case, a sales-led motion beat inbound by 30% because self-serve didn’t fit the ICP. 📈 GTM Intelligence Tip : Track Movement — Not Just Moments A single signal can spark interest. But momentum builds pipeline. Don’t just log “one-off” actions. Watch how intent evolves: ✅ From topic browsing → competitor comparisons ✅ From whitepaper download → pricing page visits ✅ From passive research → active engagement Pattern > point-in-time. When you track movement across stages, you stop reacting — and start anticipating. 📊 That’s how GTM teams stay one step ahead. Try Lead Onion for Free - https://d36.co/1bSTb #intentdata #gtm #sales

Most GTM problems show up long before they show up in the KPIs. Reps don’t suddenly miss quota. Pipelines don’t suddenly stall. Churn doesn’t suddenly appear. The signals were there. They just weren’t recognized early enough to change the outcome. You don’t need more data. You need to know what to pay attention to. #RevenueLeadership #GTMStrategy #RevOps #SalesExecution #SignalOverNoise

Most companies in competitive markets aren’t losing money because of bad sales teams… They’re losing money because of how long it takes to FIND customers who are ready to buy. And the cost of that delay? Far more damaging than you think. In our latest breakdown, we explain why remote BDR teams are becoming the secret weapon in high-competition industries like Energy, Telecoms & MSPs — and how they drastically reduce acquisition costs without hiring internally.
