Lokesh Verma liked thisA fantastic post on leaders can learn from Indian food. Loved the description of the pani puri experience.Lokesh Verma liked thisIndian food taught me an uncomfortable lesson about leadership. Before moving to India, people warned me about the food. “Too spicy.” “Your stomach won’t survive.” “Be careful.” Some colleagues even travelled with baby food. just in case. What nobody warned me about: India isn’t one cuisine. It’s many. Different regions. Different beliefs. Different rules. People argue seriously about where the best food comes from. And nobody expects one answer to fit all. That already tells you something. And the spice myth? Mostly nonsense. At least for me. Yes, some dishes are hot. But most are balanced. Layered. Thought through. What really surprised me was the vegetarian food. Not apologetic. Not pretending to be meat. Not “almost like chicken”. Just delicious. Mushrooms that actually tasted like chicken. Paneer everywhere. Food with confidence. In India, vegetarian food doesn’t want to be meat. In Germany, half of our vegetarian aisle still cosplays a sausage. And then there’s panipuri. Crunchy shell. Liquid inside. You don’t eat it elegantly. You don’t fully control it. Crunch on the outside. Chaos inside. And then: wow. Honestly? A perfect metaphor for India. Somewhere between paneer overload and panipuri explosions, it clicked for me. Indian food doesn’t try to be universal. It doesn’t aim to please everyone. It fits a place. A culture. A climate. A believe system. What works perfectly in one region would feel completely wrong in another. And nobody says: “This is the only correct way.” ... And this is where leadership often fails. We fall in love with our own way. Our style. Our model. Our success story. And then we quietly assume: “If it worked for me, it should work for everyone.” But that’s not leadership. That’s projection. Here’s the uncomfortable truth: If your leadership only works with people who think like you, you’re not leading. You’re managing similarity. What empowers one team can suffocate another. What motivates one group can paralyse the next. What feels “clear” to you can feel careless to them. Most leadership models don’t fail because they’re wrong. They fail because they’re applied without context. Good leadership isn’t about proving your way is right. It’s about recognising that your way is one possible answer. Not a universal truth. Just like food. What matters isn’t being right. What matters is being right for the people in front of you. And yes. I still miss panipuri.... a lot! 📍 Every Friday I share a story from my time in India. #IndiaSeries18

Lokesh Verma liked thisLokesh Verma liked thisMany of you know I left Seqera back in December. In addition to doing advisory work, I also wrote a book! My dad spent 40 years as an amateur historian, researching our family history. He compiled 66,000 words of primary source research that nobody outside the family had ever seen. Our family came from Ireland during the famine, fought in the Civil War, and ended up in Tombstone, Arizona. My great-great-great grandfather Nicholas McCormick was murdered in 1887. After he died, the family's mining claims were sold for $350. They turned out to be worth millions. I took his research and turned it into a narrative nonfiction book. It's called Skin, Gristle & Bone: Forgotten Frontier Lives in the Shadow of Tombstone, and it's live on Amazon now. 200 pages built on forty years of research, written in about 30 days with Claude as a writing partner. That last part is its own story. I wrote a piece on Substack walking through everything I learned about using AI for long-form writing and self-publishing on Amazon, from the workflow decisions that actually mattered to what the AI got wrong and how I caught it. If you've ever thought about writing a book, it's worth a read. https://lnkd.in/g_HrKmF2 If the story sounds interesting, the Amazon link is below. And if you end up reading it, a review would mean a lot. https://lnkd.in/gmXQBGcv And before the ink was even dry, I started on my second book. It's the real story of what thirty years inside Silicon Valley startups looks like from up close. Stay tuned for updates.Skin, Gristle & Bone: Forgotten Frontier Lives in the Shadow of TombstoneSkin, Gristle & Bone: Forgotten Frontier Lives in the Shadow of Tombstone

Lokesh Verma liked thisGrateful for the opportunity to attend and speak at the ISM World 2026. Thank you to ISM and Resilinc for making it possible. I had the privilege of presenting on Day 2, where I discussed how AI and autonomous agent systems are helping organizations manage both frequent, smaller but disruptive risks and less frequent “black swan” events more effectively. I also covered why n-tier mapping is critical for compliance, how AI enables rapid visibility into deeper supply chain tiers, where risks often originate. We also discussed how AI agents surface exposure following a “sense, recommend, act, and repeat” framework aligned with user intent and responsibility. <The Middle East conflict was used as a case study.> I truly appreciated the engaged, interactive audience, the thoughtful questions made the session even more rewarding. A special thank you as well to my partners, Katie Lenahan, Hari Ganesh Venkataraman and Adam Bartlett, for their support. Really enjoyed the experience and looking forward to continuing the conversation. #ISMWorld2026, #SupplyChainRisk, #Procurement, #SupplyChainLokesh Verma liked thisDay two of ISM World 2026 yesterday delivered another full day of valuable conversations with procurement and supply chain leaders. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Resilinc booth to discuss supply chain risk, agentic AI, and the demands on teams navigating today's volatile landscape. Shahzaib Khan's session, "The Middle East conflict as a supply chain stress test and how AI changes the response," brought the conversation to the main stage, looking at where traditional risk response falls short and how agentic AI is changing what leaders can see and act on. The discussions throughout the event reinforced what's top of mind for supply chain leaders today: navigating volatility, rethinking risk response, and the growing role of agentic AI. Thank you to Shahzaib Khan, Adam Bartlett , and Hari Ganesh Venkataraman for representing Resilinc throughout the event. 👏 Institute for Supply Management #ISMWorld2026 #SupplyChainRisk #Procurement #SupplyChain #AgenticAI

Lokesh Verma liked thisLokesh Verma liked thisYesterday I wrapped up my 8.5 years at Turvo and this morning when I instinctually tried to open slack and email I was reminded that life is full of chapters, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed was closed. Series A, B, a Lineage acquisition, and growing from 3 customers to hundreds was an incredible ride and I learned more across my time at Turvo than I ever thought was possible. New beginnings bring new challenges, new relationships and more importantly, new growth opportunities. I’ll get a quick reset spending time with our 3 month old son (who just had a blowout 💩35,000 feet in the air) visiting family before starting my new adventure. Thanks to everyone who helped get me where I am today. I’m excited to announce the next chapter soon. Onwards and upwards! 🚀

Lokesh Verma liked thisLokesh Verma liked thisParenting reflections.... I just spent four days with my teenage daughter at Brown - she took me to her classes, her favourite places, introduced me to her people, and then we had two easy days together in Boston. It was warm and open and I came back feeling genuinely connected. It also made me think about how different things were a few years ago. Our relationship was strained. She would stay in her room, away from me, and most conversations ended with her saying - forget it, you don't understand. Honestly, I did not understand. Not really. What changed was my parenting style, and I got there slowly and imperfectly. A lot of the thinking came from my partner Sumeet Mehta, whose approach to parenting was a lot more evolved than mine. I moved away from rules - a lot of "you should" and "you shouldn't" - and we settled on a few shared principles instead: 1. Make safe choices - physically and mentally 2. Make healthy choices - physically and mentally 3. Spend your time on things that take you towards your goals And one agreement between us - we will always be honest with each other, even when we disagree, and I will not judge her for her decisions, even when they don't go the way she hoped. We don't agree on everything. But when a difficult moment comes back to one of these principles, I find her making the right call on her own. The trust between us has grown in a way that rules could never have built. I met so many of her friends this week - thoughtful, hardworking kids who felt they had to hide things from their parents simply because they were certain their parents would not approve. They were going to make those choices anyway. The hiding was the real cost. Parents of teenagers - what is the one thing you learnt the hard way?

This manufacturing automation provider needed to quantify supply and demand gaps at the order level to understand how component shortages were affecting fulfillment. To address this, we built a data platform that performs complex BOM aggregation and inventory allocation with precision. As a result, they can now not only quantify supply‑demand gaps more accurately but also gain clear, daily visibility into shortages that may impact future orders.
