I’ve spent much of my life moving between countries. By the time I moved to California at 30, it was my ninth move across multiple continents, and I thought the transition would be straightforward. It wasn’t. It also meant new cultures, new communities, new languages, and starting over every time. From the outside, it can look exciting. And in many ways it is. But what people don’t always talk about is the other side. The effort it takes to rebuild a sense of belonging and find your place again. I started to notice how many people share this experience. That’s what inspired me to start a podcast called Somewhere Unfamiliar. In each episode, I speak with people who have built lives far from where they began. We talk about identity, resilience, community, and what it really means to start over somewhere new. This podcast is for anyone navigating different cultures, languages, and expectations while trying to build a life that feels like their own. For anyone who has ever felt they had to work extra hard to be understood, to belong, or to be taken seriously. If this resonates with you, I hope these conversations feel familiar. Thank you Maziar Mike Doustdar for your continuous support of the Graduate Programme. 🙏Bob Doustdar liked thisI was at an event recently with 150 graduates, both from Novo Nordisk and the broader Danish business community. Senior leaders are expected to give advice and of course, we don’t have all the answers. The next generation will find their own solutions through trial and error and that is part of what makes life so interesting. But there is one thing that always remains true. No matter which company or which sector you're in, if you want to be successful you need to develop an obsession about the people you serve. At Novo Nordisk, every decision comes back to our patients. When you're truly obsessed with solving real problems for real people, success follows naturally. And so that’s what I asked the graduates in front me. Who are you serving? What keeps them up at night? How can you make their lives genuinely better? Whether they're customers, patients, clients, communities or sometimes all of the above, the only way to understand their needs is to be obsessed with serving them better than anyone else. As always, it was fantastic to meet the leaders of the future and I wish them all the best as they progress in their careers!

What can we change to have more impact for your business? Always have a POV: point of view opinion based on data/facts and research and try to solve our customers problems BEFORE there is a problem. One clients feedback was he didn’t like the impersonal video conference meetings. He preferred to meet in person and within 5 mins of walking distance from his house. So each month, we meet in person, 5 mins walking distance from his house! Our exchanges are more productive, value added, and we meet on his terms which results in delivering impact and business results, together. 💥 🎂As I celebrate another year around year around the sun ☀️ I am reminded how grateful I am for my family, my health, my career, my customers and partners, and dear friends I call family! ❤️ 🙏Thank you for another incredible week in the Bay Area. Nothing is better than in person collaboration.

We must move to 100% passwordless and use phish-proof strong/multi factor authentication for every access 100% of the time. Passkeys are a reduced friction way to improve security and drive adoption, but we have more work to do. Reflecting on a conversation with a family member with a now compromised social media account. ‘It was too difficult to use the MFA they put in place.’ After a big sigh, I paused. Instead of blaming the user, I reflected on the user experience - in this case an authenticator that required navigation outside the app then back to the app. Whilst secure, this created too much friction for the user. As an industry, we must continue to innovate and reduce friction for consumers and enterprises alike to drive increased adoption. Trust drives innovation. Our ability to create trust is not just shipping secure tools, it is also understanding the user experience and making certain the tools are easy to use. Bob Doustdar liked thisBob Doustdar liked thisThe rumors are true: I've traded "out of office" for "back in the cloud." After an 18-month "semi-retired" sabbatical, I'm thrilled to share that I've joined Google, where I'll once again be focused on helping manufacturing and semiconductor customers worldwide succeed in their transformation journeys. People keep asking what I did with all that "spare" time after leaving AWS. The honest answer: I can't sit still, so every day was full; I was just as overcommitted as before. I knocked out a long list of personal projects, including finishing the book I mentioned in my prior post. I did a bucket-list sailing trip around Vancouver Island, and spent many days in the boatyard or down in the bilge getting my hands dirty. My wife and I spent time in Japan, in a house with a view of Mount Fuji. I advised a handful of startups (whose founders' energy is contagious), and did more hiking than I have in years. When it was needed — and it still is — I stood and held a sign in protest. I remembered what my real passions are, including quality time with family. As it turns out, stepping away gives you new perspectives that you can't really get when you are deep into one pursuit — however large and interesting — every day for a decade or more. I came out of my work-break more curious and more energized than I've been in years. We are on the cusp of incredible technological advancements. Collectively, we in tech have an obligation to make sure this new age of AI-enhanced, cloud-accelerated work delivers the net benefits that it promises, to everyone. So, after 18 months with my feet planted firmly on the ground, or on the deck of a boat, it felt like time to put my head back in the cloud — Google Cloud, specifically. The pace of change in manufacturing and semiconductors right now is extraordinary. AI is merging with high-performance computing and advanced analytics. Supply chains are under strain, and the challenges of distributed design and manufacturing are getting gnarlier. The opportunity to help organizations achieve positive, measurable outcomes is exactly the kind of work I missed. To my former customers and partners: I can't wait to reconnect. To my new colleagues at Google: thank you for the warm welcome — I'm energized to learn from you and build something great together. Refreshed, recharged, and ready. Cloud modernization is a must for mid-market, suggest findings from Telarus in its annual IT trends report released last week at its partner summit in Anaheim. Nearly a two-thirds of mid-market firms (51-500 emp) cited #cloud modernization when asked in which technology areas they needed the most external support based on current staffing and expertise. That compared to about a quarter of enterprise respondents that said the same.
