However, with the IRS increasing enforcement and with sweeping changes from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) poised to alter filing requirements, firms need a year-round compliance strategy. As a Finance major and student-athlete at Xavier University, I’m excited to continue developing my communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills in a professional setting. Yes that is true but the type of influence you have makes a sharp turn at some point. Going from individual contributor to a front line manger means you now have the opportunity to help develop talent. That same dynamic holds true for maybe one or two promotions but at some point your impact does not include individual development. Without making judgment, it is worth noting that at some point a promotion will mean you no longer prioritize growing talent. The reason this matters is because creating strategy not only demands different skill sets but also changes the internal rewards. Short story, be honest with yourself before you take that next promotion. What do you really value and what are your really good at.

Jeff Roth liked thisJeff Roth liked thisOn Monday, we wrapped one of the most productive sessions we've had at Exactera. Gary Survis from Insight Partners flew out to San Diego to facilitate a full-day AI mapping workshop for our Sales Enablement platform build. Six hours of structured thinking before we write a single prompt. We mapped our internal users, brain-dumped every requirement, ruthlessly prioritized with the MoSCoW framework, audited our tech stack, and spec'd out a V1 vertical build that Jeremiah Tims can act on immediately. But the real value wasn't just the agenda (though Gary's process was incredible). It was forcing ourselves to think differently. My biggest takeaway... our expertise is a double-edged sword. We know the "right" way to do sales enablement, content management, rep onboarding. We've done it before. But AI changes everything. The tactics and structures that worked 18 months ago might actually limit what's possible now. Gary kept pushing us: "What if you suspend everything you know about how this should work and think bigger about what AI makes possible?" That reframe unlocked ideas we wouldn't have reached if we'd just started building from our existing playbook. Getting there was a simply stated but easily overlooked process: - Understand the problem before designing the solution - Map the users before building features - Make hard trade-offs before committing resources - Define what "done" looks like for each phase Shoutout to the team who invested a full day in getting this right (including our CEO): Robert Schulte, Derek Grant, Lisa Marinkovic (who dialed in from CS), and Jeremiah who's going to bring this vision to life. Ready to build something that actually moves the needle. #AIFirst
